Turning Red is my pick, I loved that movie. But I also voted for Del Toro's Pinocchio, One Piece: Red, and Strange World.

Now I see I forgot to vote for My Father's Dragon. Oh, well.

Not seen a lot of them, but Del Toro’s Pinocchio was a surprising treat, both by how genuinely accessible and inventive it proved to be, but also being Del Toro’s most heartfelt to date. Turning Red is probably a very close second.

That said, Marcel the Shell with Shoes on sadly isn’t getting released over here until Feb, and I imagine might have topped it for me.

From what I've seen, it's either The Bad Guys or Beavis and Butt-Head.

Watched Marcel the Shell, Mad God and GDT's Pinocchio all this weekend.

Marcel takes it easily for me, but all three are really special.

Just a reminder that Marcel the Shell with Shoes On has been deemed eligible to compete for the Animated Feature Oscar.

‘Marcel the Shell With Shoes On’ Qualifies for Oscars’ Animated Feature Race (Exclusive)

The article clarifies some of the Academy rules:
Quote:
The rules further state that “motion capture and real-time puppetry are not by themselves animation techniques” and “animation must figure in no less than 75 percent of the picture’s running time. In addition, a narrative animated film must have a significant number of the major characters animated.”

"I don't need no stinkin' rules" LOL

'“motion capture and real-time puppetry are not by themselves animation techniques” -under that theory wouldn't that disqualify most of Robert Zemeckis movies like Polar Express, Beowulf and 'Christmas Carol' which were are all essentially motion capture ??

and I was being sarcastic with my Avatar 2 comment - guess I should have bookended my comment with ["SARCASM] [/SARCASM]"
