I saw that earlier, and was wondering whether the date is accurate. It was acquired by Amazon, and they plan to release it on January 14th. Would Sony put out home video releases before that?

this is very likely a leftover from the film was scheduled to release on October 1st, although i'd be shocked if it actually releases on that date

And ImportCD's as well, which is where I saw them. As another member said, perhaps this was simply in the system already, based on the previous plans for Sony to release it themselves. Sony will no doubt release the film on home video, I just question whether it would be before Amazon "debuts" the film on streaming.

Kind of weird they’re releasing it on physical before it streams on Amazon. Definitely not complaining though! Also guess it makes this a 2021 movie now if the date sticks.

I'm honestly surprised, and curious to see how this pans out. Like, this comes with a digial copy too, so if this comes out nearly a month before it's supposed to hit Amazon, then what exactly is Amazon paying for lol.

Originally I figured the movie might’ve been SUPER behind schedule and that was why Amazon was taking so long to release it, but I guess they’re just dumb. Interesting.

I'm pretty sure it will come out. I read a lot of the animated news sites and I recall Sony
retaining the physical media rites to this. The timing is a little wonky but I think they figure it's two different types of watchers. For Sony it helps sales if people haven't watched it yet. They make money two ways.

I don't think anybody doubts that Sony would still release it (depending on Amazon's deal for it) just that Amazon bought it since it wasn't going to theaters, so it's weird that Sony releases it in the normal theatrical-to-home video window and not waiting until Amazon releases it. Maybe Amazon's deal just covered post-theatrical exclusive streaming and that's why it didn't go up in October when it should have.

I know it's a different studio but this makes me wonder why Paramount didn't release The Tomorrow War on disc. I guess Amazon also got the rights to the physical release for that but not this?

Very surprised my BB pre-order hasn't been canceled yet. Does BB usually wait till the last minute to cancel placeholder pre-orders or is this somehow actually coming out?

I doubt it's coming out, no other sites have had it and BB and Deep Discount have removed their listings. It likely was the original release date, then Amazon getting on board postponed it. It was never even officially announced.
