With a flawless mono track, Carlotta still has a chance to offer the best edition in the world (which is, for the moment, the one published by Second Sight).
But, for that, they will also have to hire Fidelity in Motion (and nothing is less certain).

I wish them "bonne chance" and, of course, in doubt, I will pre-order this as soon as possible...

Even if the English mono is just a direct port-over without a few grunts, the alternate French dub audio tracks on these flicks ALWAYS have way sexier death-moans.

Cool edition, but I strongly believe the SS UHD is the last time I buy this movie. It's pretty damn definitive.

I have to say, looking at the capsaholic images I think the image actually looks better than the Second Sight UK disc that I own... Hmm

Whoever gets this fill us in if any French titles/subs

Also as I noted in the other thread-

While the caps show more grain in the Carlotta, on at least one the grain is oddly inconsistent in the frame, with patches of heavy grain and other patches of no grain

Cap1: grain missing from tree leaves
https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?a=2&x...4&l=0&i=5&go=1

Cap2: grain patchy, missing in some areas, heavy in others
https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?a=2&x...4&l=0&i=5&go=1

Very weird.

Also looking at this encode vs the dark sky/turbine, i dont really think its actually any better of an encode. Look at cap2 above. the macroblocking is basically identical. To me it appears that Turbine filtered out the grain in their encode, while carlotta left it patchy like this.

Thus not 100% sure this is an improvement over the dark sky

I'm seeing some interesting characteristics in the Carlotta. It does look good in motion. I can't account for what I'm seeing beyond a definitely more competent encode. The grain looks to move naturally. Detail is in fact better, largely from the encode. Not having any experience with digitally-added grain, I can't speak to whether grain has in fact been added or not, or simply is far more clear and visible from the better mastering. Notwithstanding, whatever they did, I really do like the Carlotta 4k presentation on my 77" oled. I see the slightest hint of cleaner, better detail and better delineation, slightly better contrast (a nice bonus) that boosts shadow details and variations in textures a bit better, and some shots do look a tad clearer with the better encode. It most certainly shares the color template some folks prefer of the Turbine/Dark Sky discs but has a look and feel of slightly more refinement. Whether this is accomplished with digital enhancement beyond just the encode, I can't say for certain, but I'm good with the results. This is an interesting shot in that regard, and beyond the caps, I see it often, albeit subtly, during the film's run-time in motion:

It did. And I did. And I'm liking dat grainz.

Even if Carlotta did enhance this digitally in some fashion, it still looks more like you'd expect from a film captured on 16mm, and I do think it looks more crisp and less ragged than the DS/Turbine 4k's...

So didn't look weird eh? Any downsides AT ALL to the french release you have found?

In the caps, at least, it looks like the French release dialed down orange too, just a lot less than Second Sight did:
https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&...19255&i=14&l=0

As result, scenes like this look at lot better on the Carlotta than the Second Sight, and closer to Dark Sky:
https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&...19256&i=13&l=0
https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?go=1&...10910&i=13&l=0

The Carlotta is a nice balance between the Dark Sky and Second Sight, TBH
