So based on the extras it looks like it has the lengthy interview (~76 mins) that the original UK blu had, but the 25th anniversary blu dropped, however it drops the commentary all previous Studio Canal/Optimum releases - blu and DVD - had? Hopefully that's an oversight in the listed specs. Would be nice for Studio Canal to include all their previous extras for once...
![]() Although that said, if it's an FiM encode, I won't care about the extras. |

Well, I know that and I considered the IMO (un)likelihood knowing that FiM is possible. And he just gave another reason why it's not likely.
![]() I considered the possibility of FiM myself before. But it was another SC Piano thread, because the same person creating the German one created a new UK SC Piano thread now. Why people do that I don't know. |

Going to be even more galling if the German SC release has the commentary (and/or DV) and the UK one doesn't. Presumably, there's a chance the discs are for both Germany and the UK - but obviously not guaranteed, given titles like Leon that are different despite both being SC.

German site says that it will include DV
Quote:
Also does 'Interview mit Jane Campion & Jan Chapman' ever appeared anywhere? because it could easily be mistake and it's interview with 'Jane Campion and Amy Taubin' from criterion release, since all 2021 interviews appear on that disc also. So the only missing thing for Studiocanal will be short and 3 archival interviews. Last edited by MarkGubarenko; 08-03-2022 at 12:04 PM. |

Can be, but not guaranteed to be. Leon's UHD has English HoH subtitles in Germany, from Studio Canal, yet the UK release (also from Studio Canal) only has English audio/subtitles. Still no idea why that one wasn't dual-territory. Hopefully either this one is, or the UK set features the commentary and DV even if it's a separate disc encode.

Haven't seen this film for quite some time. Will likely order the 4K UHD soon.

I have a bad feeling about this...

We can eventually rule out FiM at any rate IMHO.

![]() Differences between the UK UHD and the BDInfo above: 1) There's no second German audio track (Audio Description, I assume) on the UK disc. 2) There's no German HoH subtitles - or German commentary subtitles - on the UK disc. 3) The UK disc is slightly larger (more like 88-89GB) and has no 50Hz content as far as I can tell. 4) The main stream is slightly smaller on the UK disc (~71GB compared to the German's 73GB) but this is presumably due to the dropped audio/subtitle tracks. The UK disc definitely has a DV layer, so I'm guessing that it's the same as the German disc in that regard. Runtime is also the same, identical to the Criterion one (including the Criterion logo) after the 20-second Studio Canal logo. Included BD is 25th Anniversary one and has 576i content, but everything on the UHD is in 1080p/24 containers. Thankfully UK UHD has all the extras. Despite making no reference to the commentary on the back cover. Also UK slipcover highly desirable - someone decided to print the 4K UltraHD logo strip at the top of the case's inlay, despite the case itself having that logo at the top of the case (as you'd expect). So there's a black plastic 4K UltraHD logo at the top of the case, with an identical printed equivalent beneath it, and then the silver "4K UltraHD + Blu-ray" strip beneath that, wasting far more cover than necessary. looks like criterion has the usual roll-off of the high frequencies with SC holding natural look not being "noisier" as in The Circle Rouge. seems a nice job. that monsterous 12mbs DV layer bothers me so much but i'll buy it anyway.
