I would guess the proper remastered one... it's the same image they used for that edition which is being utilized for the steelbook.

If it's the remastered version then I'll pick this up. I have the original in a double pack with FC2, so I'll hang onto that also as the sequel's not to shabby.

This has the filmmaker signature series design but not sure if it will have the disc. I might have to wait and see.

I saw a couple of years ago this movie for the first time and i LOVED it!
I may get it but I'm not so happy about the cover (but as I see, it's the same in the regular case too)

I'm not liking this new trend of steelbooks that incorporate new or redesigned art. What's wrong with the original poster artwork? Many of these 70's films featured very iconic and beautiful artwork. What's my incentive to purchase a steelbook that has the same exact art and contents as my current BD?

So wait a minute... they've created a new H.D master that is different from the controversal one that Freidkin approved a few years ago?

I was lucky to get the two disc set of this and the sequel for £4.something a while ago, but I decided to keep the DVD, because of the original color scheme ; does this new blu-ray rectify that?

Yes, but it's been out for 2 years now in non-SteelBook form.

Whoa... I had no idea about that! Thanks for that.

Friedkin must have approved that release through gritted teeth, but at least he ultimately gave the fans what they wanted... unlike some directors that have been raked over the coals so much I won't bother to mention them.

I don't think anyone knows yet, it could well be the old disc.

I think so too.

The remaster has never been released in UK, so... they'll just repackage the old disc.
Maybe they don't have the rights to release the remaster too. If they did, I guess they would have released it at the time it was released in USA (2012).

Yeah 20th Century Fox UK said something to that effect about the Patton remaster, they couldn't release the new version as it was created by 20th Century Fox US so they didn't have the rights. I already have the Signature Series disc so I don't really mind anyway but we'll find out in a few days which one it is
