Really looks like Disney is moving away from Standard 4K's. Ugh.

Disney has been doing limited editions for their Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar films for the last two years. It is nothing new and thankfully Sony is making them wide releases instead of locked to one retailer.

What is more telling is that the movie bundle is either digital or DVD only. No Blu-ray set for those who don’t own the first two already.

So Disney would stop releasing family movies on 4K altogether? That would actually be a great thing. Less of the same complaints on this forum.

I've been silent through all this, but you sir, now have crossed the line and I must file my complaint on this matter.

$45 to $65 Steelbooks or, as some have said, “abandoning physical media altogether.”

That does not seem like a good choice. But hey, at least with dropping them; the complaints about the price will stop. At this point, I doubt any lower price is going to happen.

They started the moment Bob Iger returned. Once Best Buy gave up and they finally announced the end of the Disney Movie Club that was it.

All new Disney branded titles on 4K are sadly limited edition steelbooks only in North America.

Personally I have gotten over the steelbooks requirement and just wish they would stop making them limited editions.

Willow and the Disney+ Originals are thankfully available normally despite being steelbook only so they clearly know how to

I can handle an outrageous price. I cannot handle not even getting the option.

Gawd. $65.99 steelbook incoming.

I don’t think I can care about this movie though.

Let's not generalize North America, as a Canadian I know damn well we're not getting access to a 4K release whatsoever. Unless some miracle happens by the April, we're stuck with a slip-less blu-ray release.

Makes that $65.99 USD pricetag hurt that much more. Shipped from Amazon it'll cost me over $120 CAD to get this mediocre film just so I can add it to my collection.

Glad I wasn't interested in this. $50+ steelbook only releases for Disney 4K movies isn't sustainable.

UHD steelbook is up on amazon, per usual for Sony handled Disney steelbooks $65.99 though will likely be somewhat cheaper if you purchase elsewhere
https://www.amazon.com/Mufasa-Combo-Digital-Steelbook-Blu-ray/dp/B0DW47PXBF

If Inside Out 2 and Moana 2 are any indication there is a very likely chance of there being a UHD standard release coming out in the UK

Spain release.

Disney has ALWAYS excluded the Spanish public from Disney's 4K UHD releases (Animation/LiveAction/Pixar). There have only been a few exceptions such as Nightmare Before Christmas; or The Little Mermaid/Coco/Encanto (because the US disc has the original Spanish Latin dub that was released in Spain). Obviously I don't count Marvel/Touchstone releases.

This is the first recent Disney release to arrive in Castilian Spanish in 4K UHD. It's curious, because in Spain they will have standard amaray and Steelbook editions, being Spain a much smaller and limited physical format market compared to the American one, and in the USA, which sells many more units, it will only have steelbook.

It says that Blu-ray aspect ratio is 1.78:1, but the slipback that was posted says 1.85:1. Which one is correct?
