Russell is a fantastic actor and anything he's in is worth watching.
Two smaller films he did that I absolutely loved were The Next Three Days and State Of Play. I rewatch both films all the time. The supporting casts in both films were excellent AND Liam Neeson in The Next Three Days. Not the same character but it might as well have been Bryan Mills. I also love the scene where Russell shares the byline in State Of Play. |

Sequel to Crowe's magnum opus, Master and Commander: TFSotW when?
If it doesn't star "Zeus" and "Vision" then it ain't a sequel, it's a reboot. As for this film, hopefully Crowe will do Casino Royale right with it. It still doesn't sit well with me how weak and without agency James Bond was in that film. I understand that the point was for him to become James Bond, but it was unbelievable to me that someone so comically bad at secret agent-ing could graduate to become Bond ![]() ![]() So, if Crowe: doesn't die in the film; doesn't get captured by one villain and rescued by another; and has a more worthy poker opponent than Le Chiffre, it's already a leap in the right direction. |

In retrospect it's a minor miracle that they compressed a great six hour mini series into a two hour film and the resulting product was still pretty good. |

Following up on my earlier comment about how the film managed to be so good despite being condensed down from a great six hour mini series. I see one of the screenwriters for the film was Tony Gilroy.
Mystery solved. He's not a sure thing, but he's about as close to one as there is... |
