United Kingdom Two Orphan Vampires 4K UHD (Indicator)

Two Orphan Vampires 4K Blu-ray

Two Orphan Vampires 4K UHD (Indicator) 1997 Powerhouse Films

Release Date: 24th April 2023

https://www.powerhousefilms.co.uk/co...ires-4k-uhd-le

(Jean Rollin, 1997)
Release date: 24 April 2023
Limited Edition 4K UHD (World premiere)

Originally released in 1997, Two Orphan Vampires (Les Deux orphelines vampires) finds Jean Rollin, the master of the fantastique, returning to the vampire genre with which he had made his name.

By day, blind orphans Henriette and Louise seem to be the picture of innocence. But when darkness falls, their sight returns, and they wander the streets of Paris, encountering the city’s strange nocturnal denizens, and leaving a trail of corpses in their quest for fresh blood.

Featuring startling performances from novice leads Alexandre Pic and Isabelle Teboul, alongside Tina Aumont (Modesty Blaise) and Rollin regulars Nathalie Perrey (The Shiver of the Vampires) and Brigitte Lahaie (Fascination), Two Orphan Vampires is a beautiful and melancholy summation of Rollin’s unique and arresting style.

Had email about 10 minutes ago from Powerhouse. If you order both use code ROLLIN to get 10% off.

I remember the last time I ordered some artsy fartsy vampire movie in a swanky limited edition, I’m not sure I’ve ever been as bored as I was watching Daughters of Darkness. But to hell with it, I’ve ordered both of these Indicator 4Ks in the hope it helps fund future endeavours, like a Body Double UHD.

I liked 'The Living Dead Girl', that was great fun, not too familiar with his other work. I will buy these though.

Jean Rollin films are such a treat. I’m jealous of people who get to experience these for the first time.

I've grown out of that phase and pass by now, if I think it won't be my cup of tea. I still buy more than I would've bought on BD, but there's too much horror trash (no offence) for my liking by now while I still can't have my Panic Room. Hunf.

Thank you for sharing the code. I pre-ordered both UHD titles directly from Powerhouse. With code applied it came out to $61.68 shipped to Los Angeles.

Prepare for a new champion, mate, Rollin cornered the market with ladies roaming (and occasionally rolling) around in their nighties doing nowt.

If Geoff didn’t like DAUGHTERS OF DARKNESS then I don’t think these will really be a go for him. The appeal of Rollin is essentially gothic set pieces of women walking around, often aimlessly, against painterly back drops. These are high on atmosphere with even less conventional narrative than your average Jess Franco. If you like gothic though these have some truly stunning and simple but inventive imagery.

Yeah, more art than narrative storytelling. I love every Rollin I have seen, even Schoolgirl Hitchhikers and a later one like Two Orphan Vampires. Well, Zombie Lake perhaps not, but it seems like what it is, Rollin making a Jess Franco film. I had a bad start with Rollin and avoided his work for many years, because of a reverse scenario. I judged him by his shoehorned inserts in a Jess Franco film that didn't fit the style of the rest of the film and was terribly out of place and stupid looking in context of the film it was in.

Watching a trailer gives a wrong impression. You see bad acting. Which is indeed there, but in film form it works and is totally unlike bad acting in a film where actors are trying hard to act great and fail.Rollin is more about images.

Rollin does Franco better than Franco... I'm a little hesitant to order these as it's possible a Rollin box is coming later this year, and I want to see what's in that first.

I might just keep them sealed then and sell them in a year or two

The films might be on YouTube? Daughters of Darkness is pretty high brow compared to Rollin but they both probably aren't too far off.
