Default Amazon outrageous shipping costs!

I'm blown away! I went to buy two Blu-rays on Amazon and the shipping was $10 EACH for a total of $20! I thought well maybe I'll add something so I can get the free or at least a lower shipping cost option like I've done in the past...so I added some dental floss for like $4.50. Now the shipping for those three items added up to $30! In other words, $10 shipping for EACH item!

I'm like what?

It appears they want you to sign up for Prime for free delivery. Screw it! I have no idea when they started doing that but it had to be recent.

I just ordered the same two blu-rays from two different vendors from E-bay with free shipping.

What was the total item cost of the items? Free shipping still shows on my end at $25 for U.S. without prime.

Are you choosing free shipping? If you spend $25 or more, you are eligible for free shipping, tho free shipping won’t be selected by default. You would have to manually select during checkout.

Agreed; you have to pay very close attention during the checkout process. I almost wound up paying too much for shipping on more than one occasion, just because I was rushing too quickly.

I’m strongly considering getting rid of Amazon Prime.

The only reason I signed up for it was the free 2 day shipping, which they no longer offer.

I almost never use Prime Video.

…I’m lucky if I get my items inside of 5 days.

Amazon sucks.

I've never had Amazon Prime, even when they did offer the 2-day shipping option. I never used Amazon on enough of a regular basis, to justify the price of a Prime membership.

That said, I still enjoy buying stuff off Amazon, even if my items do take a week or more to show up. You can get stuff off there at different times of the year, for example, that you wouldn't find in retail stores. I bought my last few Hallmark ornaments off Amazon, after Wal-Mart stopped stocking them when Christmas passed by.

I've never paid for shipping. I've had Prime when they offered it for free. When I order things, they often come from not too far away so it doesn't take long. I don't like their packaging so I try to avoid ordering from them if I can.

I cancelled Prime and stopped shopping at amazon months ago. I no longer receive late/lost/damaged orders when I buy something online. I just didn't see the point of paying Bezos each month for crap service.

I've used Amazon for more than ten years off and on, and I don't recall ever getting a damaged package. The only instance of poor service was maybe 2 years ago, when a book I ordered didn't show up for a month; they were glad to issue me a refund.

It was close to $50.

By the way, I placed two items in the cart just now and went to check out (but before checking out) and THIS TIME the option for free shipping was there.

There must have been something wrong with the site when I was trying to purchase the two movies yesterday very late in the evening.

Around that same time I even popped in a Rush special box set for something like $135 or what ever, and the shipping on that was $15 (no option for free shipping unless it was with Prime.)

So that was odd, it must have been a glitch.

And by the way yes, I'm very careful when checking out...there's lots of options you have to be careful of otherwise it could end up going to the wrong address, being charged on the wrong card, using points when you don't want to...that sort of thing. So yes, I'm aware there are options when choosing different shipping methods.

Thanks for your help guys!

Correct, yes I made sure of that. Last night it must have been messed up. Just checked now and the free shipping option is now there, but it's too late I ordered the two movies from two different vendors on Ebay. But oh well, no harm done and I'll go back to ordering movies from Amazon next time I'm ready to do so.

By the way what's funny is one of the movies I tried to buy from Amazon is no longer available. It said there was five left yesterday but they are all gone this evening. I can't imagine they would sell five of these within 24 hours. Odd that it's no longer available, but there's a CD with the same name and a book with the same name.

The title? That's Sexploitation on Blu-ray. https://severinfilms.com/products/th...tation-blu-ray

The other one Little Fauss & Big Halsy [Blu-ray] https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...KIKX0DER&psc=1
