Did the people that made this read the comics it's supposed to be adapted from? This looks nothing like the comics. They just used the name and the setting and did whatever they wanted.

It's part of a development deal with the hugely overrated director/producer Ava DuVernay.

She's also behind the critically panned Naomi series.

I haven't seen Naomi, but it has a 90% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes, so "critically panned" doesn't seem like an adequate description.

DMZ looks promising to me (never having read the comics), and Rosario Dawson has yet to disappoint me, so I'll check it out.

To be fair, the comics told a lot of different stories, but yes, judging by that trailer they do seem to have abandoned the journalist character Matty Roth for a completely different protagonist.

DMZ is one of my favourite comic book series ever, & I'm a fan of Rosario Dawson, so I'm cautiously optimistic.
