Germany Fire and Ice 3-disc Limited Collector's Edition

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Fire-...-Blu-ray/6647/

I just got this when it dropped to €13.97. It comes in a (DVD-sized) digibook-style case, with a 24-page booklet (in German).

The Blu-ray is region-free and opens with two trailers (The Fall and Control). No PAL content. Subtitles are removable.

But the nicest thing is that, unlike the US edition, this one comes with the Frazetta documentary Painting with Fire. It comes on a separate DVD, which is PAL and region 2. In English, with removable German subtitles.

The booklet includes an interview with Bakshi, and a section with Frazetta art. Warning: the booklet includes full frontal female nudity.

I have only spot-checked it but audio and video seem to be all right.

I really want something like this in the US. I still have my 2 disc DVD set w/ lenticular slipcover that has all the special features. Probably what I'll end up doing is buying a 3 disc case and purchasing the US version of the bluray and combining them all.

I was wondering if anyone knows how the transfer on this release compares to the one from the US release, and if the extra features are DVD only, or are also included on the BD?

Yes. And it's glued to the case so I'd have to even if I didn't want to.

I just watched the whole film and it looked fine. I haven't seen the US release so I can't compare. The main problem is a lot of cel dirt, but that comes from the source.

The BD has the making of and Sean Hannon's diary.

I would assume that the company capelight used the same transfer as the US Disc.
The Documentary "Frazetta: Painting with Fire" is only on the Bonus DVD. It also has an audio commentary. Its more like a DVD just for this Documentary...

The Audio commentary to Fire and Ice and a 13 min Making of are also on the main movie BD and the Main Movie DVD.
So it contains 3 Disc:

1.: BD - "Fire & Ice" , Making of Fire and Ice (13 min), Sean Hannons Diary (16 Min), Audio Commentary to Fire and Ice
2.: DVD: BD - "Fire & Ice" , Making of Fire and Ice (13 min), Sean Hannons Diary (16 Min), Audio Commentary to Fire and Ice
(Both Discs also have the same Trailers)
3.: DVD - The Documentary "Frazetta: Painting with Fire" with outtakes and audio commentary
