Baxter (1989) coming from Scorpion / Kino - Blu-ray Forum

Scorpion proudly presents the 1989 cult movie Baxter on Bluray to be released through Kino Lorber Studio Classics, and in conjunction with Studio Canal. Baxter is the 80's French Horror/Comedy about a not-so-nice Bull Terrier. More like Bull Terror...amirite? The upcoming Blu-ray will feature a commentary with filmmaker Mark Savage. Nice. I caught this last year/earlier this year on the Criterion Channel and really dug it.

Seriously one of the most F'd-up and nihilistic films I've ever seen. I saw it once about 25 years ago and I still think about it from time to time.

Never heard of this film until a few minutes ago, but it sounds pretty good. I'll probably be picking this up.

Baxter is based on an excellent book titled "Hell Hound" by Ken Greenhall. The book is truly outstanding, written in a noir style and with such profoundly creative animal POV inner dialog that it has a way of staying with you long after the story ends. I'll have to check out the movie, as I never knew until this post that they made one based on the novel. I realize this a forum to discuss movies and physical media, but for those who enjoy reading psychological horror novels mixed with fascinating character studies, I cannot recommend the book highly enough. Can't wait for this release!

Superb book. All of Greenhall's books are masterful (BAXTER, ELIZABETH, CHILDGRAVE, THE COMPANION, LEONORE, DEATH CHAIN), and his story was a sad one.

Yeesh. Just watched my copy and man what a messed up film. Very well done and the picture looks fantastic, but I don't feel so good right now after watching this. A lot real life issues present in this one.

I think I'm watching this movie. It's on YouTube in a different language without subtitles. It seems like a bit of animal cruelty is happening in the movie. Not sure, though. A kid kicks the dog and whips it.
