I’ve listened to the podcast episode of Attack of the Queerwolves on The Fan only last week and wished this was out on BD. Not exactly a great movie, but a hugely entertaining one with a fantastic cast, Lauren Bacall being my favourite classic Hollywood star. The Fan was a big budget Hollywood movie trying to get in on the slasher craze, while also capitalising on Bacall’s career revival as a Broadway star. The two things don’t mesh very successfully but that’s also what makes the movie fun and a bit of a camp classic. Glad to retire my DVD.

I can’t wait for the BLU

I just adore the film, true it isn’t perfect but I love Lauren Bacall and those scenes of Broadway musical numbers and rehearsals are gold to me.

And Michael Biehn gives a perfectly uncomfortable performance. He is great in this. They is going to be a new interview with Biehn on the disc so that is cool.

I need to listen to that podcast episode for sure. I believe they were also on a recent ShockWaves podcast and mentioned The Fan and I believed summed it up as ... paraphrasing here... Lauren Bacall was in one movie, everyone else was in another. and to me makes if all the lore better!

Underrated and awesome. Can't wait.

I've always wondered if they altered the end of the film (as compared to the book) because of what happened to John Lennon, but I've never been able to find out either way.

I'd forgotten that many of these Comic Con titles are streeting around this time. Shame on me.

Watched this tonight. Looks really good.

The bonus features are also worth checking out. The interview with Michael Biehn (approx. 25 minutes) is really good and insightful.

Got a blind-buy set for delivery next week. I'm a big Michael Biehn fan, and even if the movie disappoints, the interview with him will make this worth having. Plus, Pino Donaggio suspense score from his prime De Palma period.

Watched it this afternoon...really solid thriller, stylish and well-acted. You can tell that it was nipped and tucked in the editing room, but worth it for Biehn's performance and some genuinely unsettling moments sprinkled throughout. Fantastic interviews and commentary, too. Great release.

Yes, I enjoyed this film too. It's a little 'kitsch' but as poster above said Biehn is really good and portrays unhinged well. Lauren Bacall's singing voice is... err... not for everyone (to be polite)

Me 2, I would prefer a special edition of the Tony Scott directed film with an awesome cast:
Robert DeNiro, Wesley Snipes, Ellen Barkin, Benicio DelToro and John Leguizamo.
Music by the Rolling Stones.
Beautifully photographed by Dariusz Wolski.

I heard that Biehn said that Bacall treated him very poorly.

I seem to remember hearing that too.
I think Michael Biehn was/is very underrated.
After 'The Terminator' and 'Aliens' he seemed destined for leading man stardom... strangely never quite happened. But he is pretty good in everything I've see him in... whether he's a heroic good guy (The Rock, Rampage) or an unhinged villain (Tombstone, The Abyss).
I think 'The Fan (1981)' was troubled if i remember right.
I've only seen the Tony Scott 'The Fan' once and remember finding it 'fine' (but nothing more).
