This is an advance pre-order for the Exclusive Synapse Films Limited Steelbook of our new restoration of SUSPIRIA. This special edition is limited to a print run of only 6000 units. The info below is very early, and final extras have not been finalized. We believe this item may sell quite a bit faster than our previous Steelbook releases, so we wanted those who were interested to be able to “lock-in” their pre-order now. We DO NOT yet have a final street date, but we fully expect the Limited Steelbook to be released before the end of the year for the 40th Anniversary. Our goal is to start shipping in mid-late November, but this is subject to change. As the extras and final specs come in, we will update this website listing accordingly.
PLEASE NOTE, SO IT IS UNDERSTOOD: The price of this product is $43.95 plus a $6.00 packing/handling fee ($49.95 total). Synapse Films personally and securely wraps/packs/insures and ships each and every Steelbook® individually with additional packing necessary to keep it safe on its way to your shipping location. We even hand deliver them ourselves to the post office. Those of you who would like to save the $6.00 and pick it up direct from our office can certainly do so. Please call our office at 734-494-3502 to place your order for pick up and we’ll reserve yours (PHONE ORDERS are usually taken between 11am-4pm Eastern time, most weekdays), so you can come by the office and get your copy when it’s released! Again, the street date is not yet final, but we hope to have it released by mid-late November. As with all our previous Steelbook releases, pre-orders are charged at the time the order is placed.

SYNAPSE FILMS, INC. LICENSES “SUSPIRIA”, ONE OF THE MOST ACCLAIMED HORROR FILMS OF ALL TIME, FOR DVD, BLU-RAY AND FUTURE OPTICAL MEDIA.
ROMULUS, MI – Synapse Films, Inc. has acquired the North American home-video rights to the 1977 classic horror film SUSPIRIA, directed by Italian horror master Dario Argento. Described as “one of the scariest films of all time” by Entertainment Weekly, SUSPIRIA stars the beautiful Jessica Harper as a young girl caught up in a coven of witches controlling a German dance academy.
“I’ve been involved in the restoration and release of many films in my career, but SUSPIRIA has always eluded me, until now,” says Donald May, Jr., President of Synapse Films. “It’s one of my favorite horror films and I’m ecstatic that my business partner, Jerry Chandler, was able to negotiate with the rights holders to release this film. This is going to be an amazing project for us.”
Synapse Films, Inc. will work closely with Technicolor Rome and Technicolor Los Angeles to create an all-new high-definition 2K scan from the original negative for a possible 2014-15 video release. “It’s important to spend as much time as possible to create the definitive high-definition home video version for the fans,” May explains. “We’re going to take our time with this one.”
Synapse Films, Inc. is currently planning the extensive work on SUSPIRIA in conjunction with Technicolor, utilizing both their Rome and Hollywood facilities. The film scanning will be coordinated and supervised by Technicolor Hollywood’s Director of Restoration Services, Tom Burton, whose film restoration credits include Ridley Scott’s BLADE RUNNER, Georges Méliès’ A TRIP TO THE MOON and BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S.
Final specifications, retail pricing, and extras for the Synapse Films release of SUSPIRIA will be announced closer to the as yet to be determined release date.

While I'd love to have I won't support them in screwing over fans that can't afford a single blu at 50 bucks.
Hopefully not limited, steelbook and is released at a reasonable price.

Based on the licensing cost, the restoration work to be done, and the film's popularity, I wouldn't be surprised if they went the "Demons" route with it.

Fudge that, Don May could offer a BD-R wrapped in a boogery kleenex for $80 and I'd still buy the damned thing. Given how atrocious past Blu-rays for the film are, it's AMAZING news to hear of an all-new 2K scan, doubtless with PROPER color correction and not the blown-out contrasts of the past master and its various home video iterations.
There's no label in the world I'm happier to see handling this classic.

I can kind of understand demons since it's not as popular of a title. Looks like they would make more money pressing 3 times as many of Suspiria. It doesn't really need a steelbook gimmick in my opinion.
