The great James Cagney (The Roaring Twenties, Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye) stars in the compelling spy thriller, Blood on the Sun. Cagney is Nick Condon, an American newspaperman working in Tokyo prior to the bombing of Pearl Harbor, who finds himself in possession of an enemy plan for world domination. Amidst political intrigue and crossed loyalties, Condon must now find a way to warn the outside world. Jingoistic, racist trash, but the judo fight between Cagney and Halloran (both Judokas in real life) is one for the ages, and probably the earliest example of martial arts appearing in an American movie.

I watched the disc last night.

Looks good, great detail, but a fair bit of print damage.

It doesn't look like it's from a negative, and the KL press release and text on the back just say "35mm nitrate materials," which feels honest.

However, Wikipedia says the 2001 DVD says it's from the "original nitrate camera negative."

I wonder if the 2001 DVD was fibbing a bit, or if they used a negative this time, but didn't say that (seems unlikely).
