When Iger bought Fox he made two statements: First - they would stop licensing out content and keep all content in house which was geared for Disney+. The second was they would no longer license in content.

Now that he realizes just how expensive running Disney+ is and how hard it is to keep subscribers from churning, he has to look for additional revenue. First was the AVOD (with ads) version of Disney+. Next - join the licensing out band wagon. If I am not mistaken, NBC/Universal receives approx. $3 billion a year from licensing their content out. Paramount Global: over a billion.

Sure, more physical discs is a good thing although I wouldn’t buy any of the Star Wars shows outside of Andor right now.

As for Disney whoring out content? Sure, they need the cash. Can’t wait for a multitude of chicken shit studios and content houses to start mucking up Star Wars even more. Grrrrrreeeeeaaat.

Did you even read the headline? Star Wars shows and movies will remain Disney+ exclusives. So will Marvel, Disney, and Pixar titles.

Deal is already done with Mill Creek who will distribute older tiles that are OOP.

In the multi-year agreement, Distribution Solutions, a division of Alliance Entertainment Holding Corporation, will distribute hundreds of select physical (Blu-ray and DVD) live-action film and television properties from the ABC Signature, 20th Television, Hollywood Pictures, Touchstone Pictures, and 20th Century Studios content libraries.
