I have an 82" LG 4K TV. It started doing the strangest thing last night. Every time I go through the different picture options nothing happens. The picture doesn't change at all. When I go into the advanced settings section I can't change anything. Only today has the screen changed when selecting some of the picture options. The picture itself doesn't change, but the screen goes black for a second when changing. It wasn't even doing that last night. I have a newish 4K player (i got it about a month or two ago) that's been acting up ever since I tried playing a used 4K of Star Trek 6.
I can no longer use Dolby Vision on my TV, as I get no picture, No matter what I do. And no matter what I try doing, I couldn't get that movie to play at all. During all this I could change the picture options and adjust picture settings. This is the weirdest thing ever I've ever encountered. No TV has ever done this. I am afraid my TV is going out. I cannot get a new one without going through some MAJOR hoops. Any help would be SO appreciated. |

Have you tried the default unplug it and leave it for a while before turning back on?
Or a factory reset? |

I have not. But I cannot unplug it quite so easily as the cord for the plug is in the wall. And the TV is flush against the wall. I can try a factory. reset. How do you do that?

It'll be somewhere in the settings menu. Probably under System Settings or some such.

You could always flip the circuit breaker to the power outlet that the TV is connected to. No electricity means TV will turn off. Leave it off for one minute and then turn the circuit breaker back on, that well be a power cycle for the TV and might fix the problem. I am only suggesting something radical like turning the circuit breaker off to the power outlet that the TV is connected to because you said you cannot get to the power cord since the TV is flush against the wall and the power cord or power outlet is inside the wall.
Also try another HDMI input or switch the TV to its internal ATSC/QAM tuner to see if you get picture with sound. You need to isolate if the problem is the Blu-ray player , cable, or TV. Switch to another video source. Last edited by HDTV1080P; 04-25-2023 at 07:56 AM. |
