Default I Love Lucy or The Dick Van Dyke Show

Which show do you like better: I Love Lucy or The Dick Van Dyke Show? I, personally like I Love Lucy a little better, but I wonder if I'm in the minority since Dick Van Dyke was the show that made it to Blu-ray. So, which show do you like better?

I Love Lucy was a B&W sitcom shot on 35mm film by CBS. It ran from October 15, 1951, to May 6, 1957. It's amazing that Lucy Ricardo (Lucille Ball) and Ricky Ricardo (Desi Arnaz) were real-life husband and wife. Though the 1950s slapstick comedy was one of Time magazine's 100 Best TV Shows of all-time, today it suffers being seen as a tired rerun in an old folks home. Still like the Chocolate Scene.

Lucy was a little funnier, but I enjoy watching DVD more.

That's the reason why the show was created. They had a very crummy marriage in real life and were about to get divorced much earlier, so they created this show for them to help save their marriage. Since they'll be spending a lot of time together in the show, they figured it might work to keep their marriage alive. It did, for a while, but then their marriage went sour again and they ended up getting divorced several years later, thus ending the show.

While I Love Lucy has some classic and hilarious moments, I think The Dick Van Dyke show (which has always been my favorite sitcom of all time) has an overall better cast, and better sense of comic timing.

The Dick Van Dyke Show - watched both in syndication while growing up. Mary Tyler Moore was so hot in that show.

I love both, I couldn't possibly choose between the two. Those, as well as 'Andy Griffith' and 'Mary Tyler Moore' were in constant play in my house growing up. I know have three of the four of those on home video, and revisit them frequently.

I heard they weren't going to cast Desi Arnez at all, but Lucy begged them to. I wish they had never let William Frawley get 30 feet within the studio while filming, but oh well.

Dick Van Dyke Show, more interesting story lines. Though both could be funny, I guess I just never liked the whining by Lucy.

I voted for I Love Lucy. I grew up watching reruns all the time as a kid and loved it. I didn't discover The Dick Van Dyke Show until I was maybe 16 or 17 and found it on Nick At Nite. Definitely a great show but I just have a little more affinity for I Love Lucy since I grew up on it.
