No new extras - looks like they may be reusing the existing BD disc

I noticed this doesn't say Dolby Vision like the Pathe release.

My French isn't spotless, but as a European I may end up picking the Pathé version up either way if this one truly doesn't have DV and the image quality for the standard HDR layers are comparable between the two. The supplements for this one are also on the Criterion Channel anyway.

No DV + likely re-use of Pathe's filtered audio and possible not-as-good encode makes this a likely pass for me, which ANNOYS me so MUCH because this an all-time great. The cover is awesome though.

Is this the first time they've changed the cover art for a 4K upgrade?

The Rules of the Game is different. Not sure if these count, but In the Mood for Love has a different cover from its standalone BD, but is the same art used in the WKW set. Days of Heaven is also slightly different with how Malick's name is treated.

Pierrot Le Fou got a new cover for its Blu re-release, though it's not 4k.

One of my all time favorites but I don't feel that optimistic with Criterion being a pass for me in recent releases, time to sell my sealed bluray anyway.

Very disappointing to hear that the Pathe BD / 4K has filtered audio. I wasn’t sure whether it’s source-related as the original negative of the film is quite heavily damaged according to the Pathé technicians. In the restoration BTS video on their BD, they sadly didn’t talk about the audio, so I thought the same may apply there.

Otherwise, it’s a stunner of a disc though with a remarkable encode in DV which I think ranks as one of best non-FiM encodes on a French 4K.

P.S. I’ve mentioned this in the Criterion thread already but for those planning on getting the UHD and wanting the (very likely) best package of Le Samourai, take the French UHD with DV and English subs and keep your old Criterion BD for the special features! https://www.amazon.fr/Samoura%C3%AF-.../dp/B0CRLGP3MP

Noticed that straight away. Error, perhaps? Weird that Criterion was part of the resto, Pathe has Dolby Vision, but Criterion excludes DV? Doesn't make sense.

Not sure what's going on honestly.

Out of the five films announced for 4K today, only Risky Business and Pat Garrett have Dolby Vision listed in their specs.

Le Samourai and Perfect Days only state HDR, while Farewell My Concubine is merely 4K.

I can't wait to see this in 4K UHD.

A great crime noir and my favorite Melville.

The BD is region-free according to the back cover of the UHD. The Pathe extras don’t have subtitles. If you’d like to read a description of the restoration breakdown featurette, see here and make sure to read the international thread for more info on the release: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...1&postcount=36
