I really enjoyed this movie a lot! For me, the key selling point is that Rachel McAdams is in it, but there's a lot to this movie that folks might like. And for parents, especially, this should be a delight to watch with your younger daughters.

The film is set in 1970, and the attention to period detail is very thorough. Check out the old-time soda cans, looking like they're brand-new! Those old printed catalogs people used to shop from!

But above all, the movie features a very charming lead performance from Abby Ryder Fortson, who effortlessly carries the movie on her shoulders. I really look forward to any future projects she stars in.

If there's one downside to the movie is that it gives a bit too much screen time to what the adults are doing; a subplot about McAdams' difficulties settling in to her new home and new town are nice, but they were not really absolutely needed. We've seen a lot of scenes like those in other movies.

If you have a young daughter or granddaughter, definitely consider watching this movie with them, it will probably be a very rewarding experience.
