From a money standpoint, it makes more sense to license stuff out. Why pay to press, store and do all the legwork when a label like Kino is willing to pay for these titles and do all the work. All they have to do is just collect the money.

This is going to be the future of 4K. There are so many boutique labels picking up the slack. Without them, 4K might not survive.

Yep. This was my fear but also our future. Major companies are all in on streaming unless it's a major, major title. They'll license their stuff and let boutique companies take the risk. It's not official but I had heard that Disney told Criterion that they were willing to license them out any title they want to them which is kinda crazy but shows how things have changed. Wall-E was a test.

If not for the boutique labels, I think Blu-ray and UHD would dead right now. That's why it's important to support these boutique labels even if the price is a bit higher. Their profit margins are extremely thin since there aren't a lot of physical media buyers. That's why I cringe every time I hear someone returning their movie because the slip cover isn't perfect or has a slight ding. You're just killing the format for trivial things...

Anyway, KL is killing it lately with these licenses they are getting. I'll totally upgrade my Blu-ray.

I never bought the Blu Ray due to the poor scores. I was very tempted when it got down around $5 from Gruv.
