Nice. Was planning to make this thread myself sometime soon. Glad you're on it though. Good looking first post.

Exciting time for this label right now after the uber-successful crowd funding campaign.

Wouldn't this belong in the Canadian subforum? I was looking for this thread there last week but never found one.

I actually just bought my first two releases by them the other day (Wargod and Dinos in a Mine Facility). Interested to see what else they'll do.

I think it fits better under Studios and Distributors, as they are a North American Studio and Distributor after all.

And while they are located in Canada, their releases aren't necessarily Canadian specific in any real way.

Six one way/half a dozen the other kinda thing in the end probably.

That was my thinking, they’re a studio/distributor so that’s why it’s in this subforum. Since all threads in that subforum are visible in the main forum, it’ll also give them more visibility.

I’m certainly interested in what they’ll do once they get the scanner. Their current releases are pretty eclectic so having those kinds of titles in HD will be a vast improvement, even if they don’t bother to do any restoration on those scans.

I've picked up all of their releases since I got into them around the Kung Fu Zombie/Flesh Freaks releases, love these guys. Pretty excited to see what they can do with scanning prints now.

I guess we also have a place to speculate on future releases now! From the indiegogo they we know the intend to release the following:

***SECRET 1980s TAIWANESE ACTION FILM***: Get ready for full-on brain melt. It’s a cult classic in psychotronic film-loving circles that has never been released on DVD or VHS - and has only ever been available in very fuzzy versions. Gold Ninja Video will do a new 2K scan in a 35mm print and present it subtitled and in its original aspect ratio for the first time!

A new HD scan of a Bruceploitation Picture in widescreen for the first time ever!

A new HD scan of a classic Poverty Row-style Western that has never been released on Blu-ray!

A new HD scan of an old-school kung fu barn burner.

For the Taiwanese Action Film, although I'm not 100% on the never been released on DVD or VHS bit I think it has to be Fantasy Mission Force. It certainly fits the cult classic in psychotronic film-loving circles part.

The Bruceploitation picture would be Fist of Fury Part 2 I think just where I know there is a widescreen version floating around online now, even though it's never been released that way.

No clue on the Poverty Row-style Western. Poverty Row studios cranked out more westerns than anything else, and only a fraction if any have made it to blu-ray before.

I think the kung fu barn burner is Shaolin vs Lama just based on the image on the indiegogo page, I'm 90% certain that's a still from that movie.

Make that 100%. That's Alexander Lou from a famous lobby card of the film:

Thanks so much for putting all the titles in the Blu-ray.com database!

Nice snooping on the image! But I sadly have to say it isn't SHAOLIN VS. LLAMA, as I screwed up on the image selection, but you're mighty close... That film does exist on a pretty good-looking DVD and there's a High Def scan that screened with RZA commentary, so maybe it's on its way from another label.

Hey Justin, thanks for responding. Sad news, but thank you for not letting the rumor grow any bigger. Looking forward to whatever it is. I'm a bit sad I missed the IGG campaign, but I'm sure there'll be a way to get them when they materialise. Good luck, and thank you for working on these.

I’ll change my guess to Shaolin Temple against Lama then

You definitely know my tastes! But I have to rain on the parade and say it isn't either of those.

I would kill to be able to release FANTASY MISSION FORCE, but it's already been gifted beautiful-looking Blu-rays in Germany and Japan.

The same goes for FIST OF FURY 2 - which I believe has made its way to DVD (And maybe even Blu-ray?) in Germany. I would love to know what vault all those distributors are raiding for such good-looking transfers!

Haha, it’s no fun if I get the guesses right on the first go anyway. What this tells me is that I need to start paying attention to what’s getting released over in Germany and look at getting a region free player.

Pretty much where I'm at with it. The imdb synopsis and the top review only further piqued my interest.

The world is not ready for Gold Ninja Video to have a film scanner.
[Show spoiler]But I sure am.

I wish they were pressed too!

But I can assure you the highest quality discs are used (Verbatim BD-Rs) - and they are supposed to last a very long time. You can get really low-quality discs pressed (See, any bargain bin label) and the discs die very fast, while these won't. Burned discs get wonky when you're dealing with dual layers, but I don't, so it's not an issue and the quality is the same as a press.

The issue is to get a press you need to order 1,000 discs and I've 1) Never come close to have the demand for that much and 2) Do not have anywhere to store all those discs.

If the demand blows up, and I get around 1,000 pre-orders, I will do a press and make note of it on the website when I do, but it hasn't happened yet.
