Australia 'Vanity Fair' (Witherspoon) - comments on technical quality?

'Vanity Fair' (Reese Witherspoon) was released on BD on 1st September. Can anyone who has the disc comment on the technical quality? Particularly, since some Icon releases have been 1080i/50, can you confirm that it's 1080p/24?

I tried the earlier release of 'Emma' on the same label, and that was dire. I hope 'Vanity Fair' will be a lot better.

Thanks for any info!

I haven't seen this anywhere yet? The Children came out on the same day and I have seen that around... here is the cover art anyhow...

Thanks for that - maybe it got postponed for some reason. Anyway, I'm spending too much on other BDs at the moment, so perhaps it's just as well for the sake of my bank balance!

Vanity Fair is now available in Australia from the main online retailers.
Haven't watched the movie in full, but a brief peek shows excellence on all levels including a near flawless 1080p transfer including 2 lossless audio tracks (DolbyTrue and DTS HDMA).
The PQ is nothing short of fantastic. I have a copy of Dendy's Emma (which was woefully sub-par) and was expecting a very average transfer. Could not be more mistaken! I can't wait to enjoy the full film.
The back cover states Region ABC, and I can confirm that the disc is Region Free for Regions A & B!
I am in Australia and my purchase was $AU20.95 including postage.
Will post a review before too long.

Thanks for the info - I'm pleased to hear it's a lot better than that awful release of 'Emma', so I've just ordered it.

The top online stores in Australia now sell Vanity Fair.
I haven't seen the movie in its entirety, but a quick glance reveals brilliance on every level, including a nearly faultless 1080p transfer with two lossless audio tracks (DolbyTrue and DTS HDMA).
The PQ is really wonderful. I was expecting a very mediocre transfer because I own a copy of Dendy's Emma, which was appallingly poor. There is no room for error! I'm eager to see the entire movie.
The CD is region free for Regions A and B, despite the rear cover's designation of Region ABC.
My order, which included postage because I live in Australia, cost $AU20.95.
I'll write a review soon and share it.

Becky Sharp is meant to be a social climber, like Jeanne du Barry.
Mira Nairʼs adaptation does not give me this impression, instead it leans into traditional happy ending trope and makes the status quo feel comfortable about the status quo not been done in.

Perhaps a good plan is to seek out that new Johnny Depp movie about the real life Becky Sharp!
