Hope they do this one right. It's a real favorite of mine. The original Blu-ray release was really exciting since the US DVD wasn't even anamorphic. As long as they don't do a "To Catch A Thief" job on this one, I'll be happy. Nice to see the PP line continue. It's slowed down a lot recently...

Yikes, I'm mentally preparing myself for a case of Primal Encode 4k, just in case the fine folks that worked on The Firm 4k and The Core 4k get this one tossed onto their work-pile as well.

It's partly due to Paramount licensing their major stuff to boutique labels again. When the line first started, they were pulling back from labels like Criterion, and planning to be their own boutique label. That obviously didn't work out as well as they hoped, and so they started making deals with every boutique possible, Kino, Arrow, VinSyn, FCE, etc..
Just look at some of the notable titles that Kino, and Arrow were able to license, that could easily have been Presents titles years back Escape from Alcatraz Marathon Man Gunfight at the O.K. Corral 3 Days of the Condor The Longest Yard Witness The Warriors The Shootist (BD) Last edited by MifuneFan; 01-09-2024 at 02:12 PM. |

Yup, one thing you can certainly never fault Paramount for is their continued willingness and aggressive participation in this 4k space, which has hugely benefitted collectors and boutiques alike. The vast bulk of upper-tier films in their back catalog will ultimately wind up enjoying releases in uhd, one way or another, undoubtedly.
