Arrow Titanic 3D

Aug 4

Cameron talks about which of his movies he would like to do in 3D:

Quote:
Some interesting news has arrived from EmpireOnline who are saying that James Cameron has interest in doing Terminator 2 in 3-D. He told them when asked what other films he would consider doing in 3-D quote;
Quote:

, "You know, we've thought about Terminator 2, which could be fun because I think that's a film that stands the test of time for me. I think that Aliens was a really good film in its time, but visually it doesn't quite hold up; we've kind of evolved beyond that now. I mean, for me it doesn't. Terminator 2, I think, is the cusp of where it still holds up, through now. True Lies, I don't think so; it doesn't feel right to me. Titanic absolutely, slam dunk! I want to see it!"
I am not a big fan of 3-D and really not sure what new elements 3-D would offer to Terminator 2 that would make it worth seeing. Plus as GoldenSimatar another writer on this site has pointed out, if its not shot in 3-D its not going to be real 3-D.

It's been speculated that this wouldn't happen even though Cameron has said in the past that he wanted to. Well now it's official that he is underway. Now let's just hope he goes through with T2 as well (like he's said he intends to).

Quote:
3D has been the big focus of this year’s San Diego Comic Con, so it’s no surprise that when you get a bunch of movie industry visionaries together, watching movies while wearing funny glasses is a front and center topic. EW attended the Visionaries Panel at Comic Con tonight where Peter Jackson and James Cameron took center stage, and talked 3D.

In particular, Cameron confirmed that a 3D version of Titanic is coming. In fact it’s already underway, though the conversion process will take 18 months. Cameron said, “We've seen a couple of minutes already, and it looks great.”

On the other hand, 3D doesn’t seem to be in the cards for Lord of the Rings. Now that New Line Cinema is all but defunct, Warner Bros. is in charge of the Lord of the Rings universe and Peter Jackson says they aren’t enthusiastic about converting them. What’s the problem? They just don’t think there are enough 3D screens out there to justify the expense. They’re probably right.

Right now pushing 3D is Hollywood’s way of pushing us towards a future where it’s the norm, it’s not really about making big profit from it now. 3D is the long view. Some are buying into it, other like Warner Bros. apparently aren’t. Give the choice though, I think I’d rather watch Frodo leap out of the screen than be forced to watch Leonardo DiCaprio drown into the row in front of me.

I wish people wouldn't waste time trying to put out crappy 3-D transfers, and just work on improving the films they have, or focus on new ones.

Only the 2nd half of the film would be worth seeing on 3D (if any!)

There's no point on transferring a 2D movie to 3D if it's still just the same old thing from years ago. I'd rather wait for Avatar, but for now, shouldn't Titanic be left alone!?

Not sure how 3D will work for Titanic. It is a long movie with a lot of dialog and character development. Maybe the scene when the Titanic is sinking will be worth it, but what about the majority of the movie?

*Sigh*

Same shit, but in 3D. That's like making something uncool cool, per se, because Titanic beginning to be cheesy for me.

Same here, but I'll expect an announcement when Avatar is screened worldwide. Perhaps to promote the film?

Have to agree with some of the opinions here. I guess it's okay if they want to transmogrify the original version for 3D (if the intent to do this is true), but I sincerely hope that the transfer for the 2D is not 'left behind' in terms of visual quality.

This release really deserves the best picture quality possible.

The first half might not be all that interesting in 3D but the second half if done right, could be epic in 3D and James Cameron has yet to disappoint me.

I'm definitely down for this

You'll think her nipples are about to poke out your eyes.

Anyway, am I the only person that hates 3D? It blurs the picture and usually gives me a bad headache.
