Well, just preordered this, hope the transfer is better then previous releases, wait, what, no Dolby Atmos.......these films I have no problem with 5.1 and 2.0, maybe I'm a little colored by the fact I grew up with these, being a native Dane. ;-)
Somewhat expensive though, $119AUD shipped to Denmark, and then later comes the import taxes and fees, so be it :-)

my 1st order from Umbrella. have had my eye on them, but waiting for a sale, which i've yet to see one. and now looking at their stock, i've missed out on several collector's edition i would have like to have. they need to increase initial stock runs, 'cause it seems collector's are tuned in. will subscribe now to the Official thread for them here as well.

Saw this announced on Facebook, stoked! These are great NWR films that need more exposure, the only place ive been able to catch them is randomly on Amazon Prime a couple times and those were sd I believe. Last time was last winter, and the first one is a g*ddanged classic!

Finally! Now I can finally retire the Magnolia DVD set. First movie isn't even anamorphic.

All 3 of these are great. Each one is so good you could make a strong case for any one of them being the best of the trilogy.

Finally pulled the trigger on ordering one for myself. I've been told most of their releases are region free, I'm a new customer so I was able to get a 15% off code, which helped ease the shipping cost to the US a little

I'd be remiss not to pick these up, after wanting a physical option to watch them for so long.

Just a note that the 15% off code works even for a prior customer such as myself.
It'll take the edge off slightly when customs asks for its pound of flesh.

Do tell if it is region free and how it looks. I'll be eager to know. I was just about to bid on the DVD trilogy release for less than a dollar on eBay.

Umbrella confirmed in their replies to social media comments that it will be region free

Has anyone picked this up yet and can give some insight on the video transfers of each film? As much as I want this set, I cannot commit to it without some kind of confirmation that each film has been handled with care, particularly after the previous and dreadful blu way we got here in Australia of the first “Pusher” film from Accent.
Thanks in advance.

Default Transfer quality

Having just acquired a copy, sadly, I have to report that the transfer quality is nothing short of horrific. Comparing to a very old DVD edition, there seems very little gain, but rather simple upscaling at play. The picture is covered in banding, clipping, compression and sharpening artefacts, etc. This is true especially for the first part, while there might be some minimal quality gain in part II and III, compared to the old DVD editions.

Umbrella seems to have been going for a money grab move here, rather than a quality transfer. This used to be a respectable distributor, so rather sad to see them delivering such low quality material again.

Will prob get this in the B1G1F so not too fussed about the transfers at that price. Should still be an upgrade over the Accent BD

… actually, it's pretty close to the Accent DVD quality from 2011. So don't hold your breath for any image improvements.

Oh, what the hell. I've been waiting years for a good quality release for this trilogy, and now this.
I was under the impression this Umbrella was a decent label, but this sucks badly.

That's a shame, I was excited to grab this here in USA. I'm surprised this hasn't come out here via Criterion or Arrow yet, given the director.

Will wait for a few reviews and maybe a JBHIFI sale this winter...

Man, I just got a shipping notices from Umbrella last week. Hopefully it’s not TOO bad (although their blu ray release of Jackie Chan’s Who Am I is pretty terrible).

Haven't received mine yet as it is still in transit. It is a pretty penny for a set of films that, so far, hasn't had any stellar releases even in its home country so I guess in light of that it was a long shot that this would turn up any better. FOMO is a biatch.

Welp, with any luck we'll get a 4K announcement any moment now of new scans from the OCNs.

Looking forward to the ransom note from customs.

From what I remember, director Nicolas Winding Refn doesn’t like these films. Probably because of the financial problems he faced throughout their production. Maybe that’s part of the reason why any decent HD remasters aren’t available?

Oh my god. I have the accent Blu-ray, which is atrocious, so I can't imagine. This really sucks.
