A while ago the last time I was in a Best Buy Magnolia center they had a good selection of projectors, A/V receivers, and HDMI cables on display (Some 8K HDMI cables run around $995 and are close to the 8K flat panel screens that are on display). While Best Buy Magnolia centers do have ceiling mounted projectors on display that are better than most ultra short throw projectors. Best Buy Magnolia centers also have the high-quality Hisense brand of ultra short throw projectors that are made in China. Like almost all consumer DLP projector brands that are labeled 4K resolution, the current generation of Hisense DLP projectors, like their top-of-the-line L9H series only uses a 0.47 DMD imaging chip that is native 2K (1920 x 1080P) and then with pixel shifting technology is able to simulate 4K (3840 x 2160P). Perhaps one day in the future Hisense and other DLP projector companies might offer native 4K DMD imaging chips that do not need 2K light engines with pixel shifting to simulate 4K quality. While the Hisense L9H series of ultra short throw projectors offer Dolby Vision HDR, their projector line currently is not offering HDR10+ but only standard HDR10. In the past tuners and streaming was done with external boxes when it came to all projectors (especially high-end consumer models). As consumer projectors become more popular, the entry level models below $6,000 are being made more attractive to purchase by offering built in tuners and streaming features just like a modern day Smart TV. This Hisense projector has ATSC 3.0 and ATSC 1.0 tuners built in. Also streaming apps built in that require either RJ45 wired ethernet or WI-FI 6e connection. Also legacy Blu-ray 3D is not supported with these projectors (spec sheets mention no 3D feature which well be a deal breaker for some people).
The Hisense 120L9H-CINE120A is a low-cost projector with 120-inch screen for $5,999.99 at Best Buy or the same projector bundled with a 100 inch screen costs $4,999.99 at Best Buy (a 3,000 lumens projector with a laser life of over 25,000+ hours). The advantage of Ultra Short Throw projectors is that they can be placed in any room on a low height TV style stand like a bedroom or any other room where the consumer did not pre wire the room for a ceiling mounted projector. Ultra Short throw projectors are not yet the same quality when compared to a super high end ceiling mounted projector, however Ultra Short Throw projectors have become so popular due to their easy setup, that perhaps one day Ultra Short Throw projectors might replace consumer ceiling mounted projectors (however I am hoping that there well be a demand for both consumer ceiling mounted projectors and consumer Ultra Short Throw projectors). The ceiling mounted projector is the projector that videophiles well use in their dedicated home theater room that has been pre-wired or remodeled for a high-end ceiling projector. However, the Ultra Short Throw projector is designed as a replacement for any room in the house that one wants to replace a large flat panel screen with a projector that projects an image that is 100 to 120 inches in screen size with no remodeling needed. One just needs to mount a projector screen on the wall and make sure one has a TV stand that is low in height. Like mentioned before the Hisense L9H series projector only has a native 2K imaging chip that simulates 4K with pixel shifting. While viewing the Hisense at a Best Buy Magnolia center on display, I was amazed at the picture quality one could get for around $5,000 for 100 inch screen or $6,000 for 120 inch screen. One nice thing that this made in China Hisense projector does is that the engineers have made a safety sensor on the projector that detects when a person gets too close to the light engine, and a big warning message pops up on the screen to let the consumer know the projector will be shutting off in a few seconds in order to protect ones eyes from the laser light engine (If one places their hands near the projector while on, then one well see the message pop up on the screen. Moving one’s hand away from the projector within a second well prevent the shut off from occurring). So far, I have not personally seen this safety feature on any other brand of Ultra Short Throw projector. While most people will not walk up to the light engine while its on, that is an awesome safety feature the Hisense company has designed in the projector, since both kids and adults’ eyes well be protected if they are not familiar with projectors and why one should not look at the light engine (safety feature can also be disabled in the menu). Overall, a very good 2K picture quality for the money. However, when looking at the projector on display at the Best Buy Magnolia center I did notice that the projector was not aligned perfectly for the screen and needed some adjusting since the projected image was a little off at the top and corners. Ultra Short Throw projectors under $5,000 and above $10,000+ have the potential to become extremely popular with consumers that want screen sizes around 120 inches or larger. A Hisense $6,000 Ultra Short throw projector with a 120-inch screen is a better value when compared to a Hisense 4K 100 inch flat panel screen for $9,999.99 (but the flat panel is true native 4K quality). The Hisense brand and other high-quality brands are available at many retail stores and online stores including Best Buy stores and Value Electronics. https://www.hisense-usa.com/televisi...ctDetailsBox13 https://valueelectronics.com/product...reen-included/ QUOTE “Hisense has announced the availability of the newest products in its 2023 Laser TV lineup: the L9H TriChroma triple-laser Laser TV and L5H 4K Smart Laser TV. This year’s Laser TVs come with major updates, including all-new ambient light rejecting (ALR) screens that enhance brightness for a sharper picture, NEXTGEN TV (ATSC 3.0), Google TV, and even better picture quality.” “The L9H and L5H are available in two screen sizes: 100-inch or 120-inch and come paired with an easy-to-install screen.” https://www.twice.com/product/video/...-now-available Last edited by HDTV1080P; 10-10-2023 at 09:55 AM. |
