While this is redundant for anyone with the Bergman box, these are fantastic, devastating films.

I had this on DVD too, but got the Bergman box during the last sale. Can't believe they're listing the pre-order for almost $100 (currently).

Surely, it will drop (or one could wait for the next sale).

Wow, considering I bought the Bergman box for $150 I think I did all right.

Yeah, kinda confusing. Even the $80 Criterion has it at is odd.

If you look at it from the perspective of a single Criterion movie going for ~20 bucks on sale, I'd say getting the trilogy for ~50 bucks at 50% off is alright. Especially since Winter Light will include that damned good feature length making of, which actually covers the shooting of the film.

Sure, getting the big box for 150$ is a great deal, but that's only if you want all the films, and can trouble to offload your existing blu's. Me, I don't need a lot of the early films, I don't see myself re-watching the long-ass TV films (F&A, Scenes from a Marriage) and a friend who DID get the new pack handed me the previous blus of films I didn't already have. I'm good

Does anyone know if this is a digipack? It seems like it should be.

As someone who won't own the big Bergman boxset, this one is a must-buy even if I already own it on DVD. Between this and the Kiarostami trilogy, a lot of money will be well spent on Criterion this year.

I have no formal education in film or film history so I depend your comments and formal reviews. Thanks for the discussion below.
I see Roger Ebert has named each of these as Great Movie!
I have a couple Bergman's and like them. I'm buying this set now- Amazon Warehouse deal 'like new' for $40, beats the BN 50% sale.
Cheers

It is surprising that Criterion has this for such a high price point when you take the Bergman's Cinema box set into consideration; even if you paid full price on the Criterion store for it (currently at $239), the math doesn't really add up.

With the Bergman's Cinema box set, you get 39 films—including the three in this Trilogy set—for roughly $6 a piece. With the Trilogy set, you get three films for roughly $26 a piece.

I had the Trilogy set on DVD and considered upgrading it, but ultimately decided to get the Bergman's Cinema box set this past summer instead, and I couldn't be happier with it.

The separate release of the trilogy is mainly for people who are not interested in getting all the films of the big boxset and can't easily sell/trade their previous blu-ray purchases.

You'll be glad you did. These films are timeless and endlessly fascinating.

Don't forget to ad Persona to your collection.

Is it normal that Winter Light is not a white disc like the others? Just checking to be sure

Yeah, that's how it's designed. You can see packaging photos from criterionforum.org with the same disc colors
