Overview of High Resolution audio ("Is a term for audio files with greater than 44.1 kHz sample rate or higher than 16-bit audio bit depth". But I don't know why you'd listen to the 96 kHz 24-bit stereo track instead of the Atmos if you have a surround system.

True, depends on if the 96/24 track provides more 'fidelity' over the Atmos track with it only being 48/24 (if that is the case).

Although I would hazard a guess, and say that the majority of people who are Atmos capable, would prefer to listen to the Atmos track.

Regarding Akira, do any of the UHD releases feature the full 'hypersonic' track as per the original BD releases?

The German and JP releases in terms of spec are 192/24, but I am right in saying that it has been filtered? Like the 96/24 tracks featured on the other UHD releases worldwide?

The UHDs have the newer, 2020 Hypersonic track, a newer remix. They do not have the 2009 Hypersonic track. The 2009 track is the clear winner, both in terms of audio fidelity (the ‘20 track has some obvious NR on the centre channel) and mixing choices (both are still revisionist from the ‘88 LD Dolby Surround track, but the ‘09 track is amazing on its own merits as pure 100% demo material that was expertly mixed, while the ‘20 track has more questionable changes).

So none of the UHDs have the (superior) 2009 Hypersonic mix.

Sounds like the 2009 release is a keeper for now. Considering that the UHD transfer has been DNR'ed as well, which I presume is featured on all the UHD releases of Akira?
