Criterion will be releasing This Is Spinal Tap on 4K in September!

I love how they used the "Photoshop" images of Guest, McKean, and Shearer from the old BD cover as a reference.

I hope they bring back the old menu from the DVD with the commentary, but probably not. Also the UK got some exclusive special features that the US never did, wish those would be included here too. More tap the merrier!

I kinda wish it had the 1.66:1 aspect ratio from the Criterion disc, but it looks like they're going with 1.85:1.

The BD was packed with artifacts. There have been numerous 16mm titles that looked far better pq-wise.

Looks like a lot of features aren’t being transferred over from the MGM release, so will definitely be holding onto my old 2009 disc

So according to Reiner in the returning to theaters announcement he says it’s been “remixed and remastered”. Is he just having fun with language or is there a chance this won’t be the original theatrical version? Or maybe that’s just the audio being “remixed”?

Some good news with regards to possible censorsing too. When a trailer for the theatrical release came out a few weeks back, there was concern because they clearly edited the word "retarded" out of the scene. But Criterion actually posted this exact scene on their product page, and the word is completely intact:
