Default I need a new Printer

looking to get one so figure I'll spend a little more if need be and get one that can print out movie covers (blu rays) as well. Any recommendations on a good one thats not a fortune and one that is not too complicated. Thanks!

Inkjet or laser? If you want high quality graphics a colour laser will cost about three-four times an equivalent inkjet. Laser's big advantage is the toner doesn't dry out unlike ink cartridges and every time an inkjet starts up it wastes ink on a cleaning cycle. Non-original inks are much cheaper but may fade or not have the cleaning additives that prevent the heads gumming up, while original inks often cost more than the printer (printer ink is one of the most expensive liquids made).

If you want an inkjet go for a single function one with as many ink cartridges as possible as you'll be able to replace individual colours as necessary. Single function printers are better as cost isn't spent on scanners and build quality tends to be better. Rock bottom pricing the Canon TS705 is hard to beat, XL size cartridges are available.

Or consider an ink tank printer from Canon or Epson, more expensive purchase but you buy bottles of ink and top up the tanks as necessary. Canon's G1520 is the cheapest tank printer.

If you do want a combined printer, scanner then an Epson or HP cartridge model may be worth looking at with an ink subscription.

You might consider a cheap mono laser for basic printing and using an online print service for colour

I love Brother Laser Printers and the mid-to-high models. Mine is Black & White but a color one is needed for your purpose. The toner and other replacement parts on the color can get quite expensive.
