That artwork is awful. On a more positive note, very pleased to see this finally get a UHD.

I think that's one of the low point for this movie: all of the art I've ever seen from it, going back to the original VHS is pretty forgettable. Which is unfortunate for such a great film.

I think it's one of the nicest looking Steelbooks I've seen in some time. Has a wonderful Japanese/Samurai aesthetic.

That's the OTHER other thing about the art: it very much relies on the imagery and messaging of the film, which if you don't get you...won't get. I just was hoping for more from it.

For an action film, it's very thoughtful and can be a slow burn at times, but like I tell people "give it at least one watch."

While I love the new steelbook artwork, I think its kinda jarring to see it red. Blue has been the color for all posters and releases. I agree that all other artwork for all the releases has been very boring to say the least. But, I do think the original UK DVD has a cool cover (and a cool tagline):

Same thought as above. Nice looking steelbook but I feel like it should have been blue.

Yet another 1080p Criterion I bought before they got into UHD, I wonder if they will release this but I sure would grab this import if I didn't already own it. Seems like I will be screwed out of an upgrade again, as I love this film but just don't watch it enough to rebuy it, hopefully it looks nice, the 1080p version does. Steelbook is decent, could look way worse, looks a little bit greeting cardish to me. The soundtrack CD art looks pretty good to me.

TheD***Father hinted in a tweet that it is getting re-released in 4K from Criterion, which is likely as they probably still own the license and they usually port from StudioCanal transfers and sharpen up the encoding a bit, but they do do some slight filtering making the PQ look slightly more blurry. I'm just waiting to see if they will announce it tomorrow for December. It may take months up to a year because they recently just got Breathless and Don't Look Now on 4K after 2 years, but I since they are announcing a lot of 4Ks. I'd imagine they will announce it sooner than 2 years.

Just secured my copy with Rarewaves. Cheaper than Amazon UK if you're importing to the states!

I got my german version yesterday from Amazon.de (cheaper than the uk one and had pre-ordered before I saw that version) and it has no Dolby Vision far as I could tell.

Also, the scenes with French did not appear to have English subtitles which is annoying (even with SDH subs turned on). Might return and get the UK one instead(Edit - or not, seems the UK version also has no subtitles for those scenes).
