Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992)

Not too many people seem to remember the 1992 movie that preceded the TV show of the same name. That's a shame, because it's actually a pretty good movie as far as the genre goes...

Buffy is trending on social media right now due to Paul Reuben's passing; if you haven't seen the movie, you should check it out just for his dying scene alone!

Oh, wow - I didn't even know he was sick. Cancer is terrible, though - I should know, since my Mom also passed from it, and one of my cousins is fighting it at the moment. My prayers are definitely with his friends and family.

Paul Reubens' performance is the only thing I liked about that movie.

If memory serves, yes. I haven't watched in a while. But I always did enjoy Kristy Swanson's take on Buffy.

If memory serves, Kristy was asked to reprise Buffy for the TV show, but she wasn't interested in a long-term contract. That's how Sarah Michelle Gellar got the job.

I had never heard before that Swanson was asked to reprise the role, but if that's the case I'm glad she turned it down. For one thing, she would have been 28 years old during Season One.

I'm not sure where I first heard about that, but it just stuck in my mind. I just checked on Sarah's age, and she would have been just short of 20 when the show first started.
