I figured since it's a Sony release. I don't plan on picking it up, but it will look very nice in 4k with HDR.

But did it have a 4k finish? Hard to say with the CGI shark... but if it was the only real digital stuff in the film, perhaps they rendered it at 4k... this time.

Blake Lively in a bikini would be glorious in UHD! Though, the movie is anything but.

2k DI. Unfortunately. According to imdb of course!

Was hoping for a sooner release date. September 20th it is.

This is definitely a day one purchase.

That's less than 3 months after the theatrical release. I don't know how much sooner one could expect it. Especially given that it's doing alright at the box office.

Deadpool is the exception, not the rule.

It wasn't that long ago it would take 9-12 months for a movie to come out on home video after playing in theaters. By the time it hit home video you had almost forgotten about the movie lol

By like 2 or 3 days maybe. But typically 3 months is the shortest window from theaters to home video for movies that do well at the box office.

Also, Fox had some extra incentive to release Deadpool when they did with X-Men: Apocalypse due out in late May.

It should be a neat film for 4K.

Maybe a little on the resolution and lot on color and contrast. It only had a 2k DI due to the SFX.

But filmed with high quality cameras so it should be a very clean look.

Hard to fathom how a 2K master can look as good as it did projected at my local multiplex; that's, what, only about 128 pixels wider on the horizontal and more or less equivalent resolution on the vertical compared with standard HD, correct?

The regular blu should look great.

Most definitely.

I am eagerly waiting for this to release on 4K. It's a title that's bound to look absolutely incredible.

I would rent it first. The plot is fairly thin even if it has Blake Lively in a bikini. That only gets you so far.

If you like shark movies and are one of the last remaining people on the planet to not have seen it, I would suggest Jaws as a safe buy. Superior filmmaking.
