Jack Black is back as Po in DreamWorks Animation's Kung Fu Panda 2, the fiercely funny, "winning sequel" (Scott Bowles, USA TODAY) to the Academy Award®-nominated original film. In his biggest challenge since becoming the Dragon Warrior, Po must lead his friends and fellow kung fu masters, The Furious Five, on a mission of epic proportions to defeat his most threatening rival yet. Kung Fu Panda 2 packs a powerful punch that combines non-stop action, beautiful storytelling and stunning animation in an awesome adventure!

Finally. They've followed the 18ish months between 1 and 2 that Shrek was. Hopefully KFP3 will also be like Shrek 3 and only take 10 months.

I still need to get KFP4, I have had terrible luck with that one. Maybe I'll wait and get it after KFP3 lol

Ugh, again with this once-a-year crap for Dreamworks catalog 4Ks. It's been OVER a year since KFP1 and we're only just now getting an ANNOUNCEMENT of KFP2. At least we also have Madagascar coming out but that'll ALSO probably be once a year to finish that off, and that's excluding all the single DW movies we're unlikely to get on 4K.

I'm in. The Kung Fu Panda series is just so much fun for me as far as animated movies go. I love them! Day 1, probably from Gruv.

Universal drip feeding as per usual. Considering these are just upscales it's even more reason to do a whole franchise at once.

Kung Fu Panda 3 is also about to turn 10 and considering Universal loves anniversaries at the moment.

While it does suck they at least should end up doing most of their movies unlike Disney Animation and Sony Animation.

Other than their smaller movies and the 3 Aardman movies I would expect everything on 4K eventually.

Great news! We don't even have it on blu-ray, so will be nice to have it in 4k. Hopefully as a nice steelbook so it goes together with the steelbook of Kung Fu Panda 1.

This movie always felt missing in my collection and its because I've held off in case of a 4k for so long, so im super excited this is finally happening. Now it'll feel weird that 2 & 3 will more than likely have dolby vision (going off the recent universal releases) and not 1

All the DreamWorks Animation franchises on 4K are inconsistent sadly. Like for example the first two Dragon movies don't have their extras when 3 does. Or how they did DTS X for some titles and Dolby Atmos for others

HTTYD was inconsistent on already BD depending on which studio owned Dreamworks at the time. The original Paramount disc had the Boneknapper short, the re-release (not sure if Fox released the 2014 "The Original Epic Movie" version or if their Family Icons cover was their first version) knocked it off BD in favor of episodes of the tv show and put it on the DVD, then Universal removed the DVD. I don't even think the "Ultimate Collection" has it judging by Amazon's disc breakdown, but the pointless Book of Dragons is despite being taken off the Gift of the Nighty Fury re-release

The 2014 reissue was done at the time by Paramount if I remember correctly, which still had the rights to DreamWorks' pre-Fox animated library before home video rights went back to Fox and then Uni

Sure, but Universal still could have done the 4Ks consistently.

But yeah, the situation with that short is annoying. It's similar to shorts and specials for Madagascar and Kung Fu Panda. They won't include them on the 4Ks or do a collection of them all it's annoying.

I don't know what's up with that Boneknapper short, as it's the only one that hasn't seen an HD release since the first BD of HTTYD.

Even this set that Uni put out a few years ago, and carries pretty much everything they made for the series is still missing it.

I initially thought it might be a licensing issue, but they actually did include it on a shorts compilation DVD in 2019, so who knows what's going on.

A licensing issue would just be weird. It's clearly just an oversight. that collection just packs in the 3 movies and the holiday specials collection. The reissues in Australia always kept it since they never bothered to do the re-released here.

Secrets of the Furious Five meanwhile has never been released on Blu-ray or 4K and unless by some miracle it's included on Kung Fu Panda 3 it looks unlikely to ever be.

It appears they're releasing one a year like they did with the Shrek franchise.
