I was planning to wait for PS5 to pick this up anyway after the delay, so glad to hear it will have an enhanced version. I’m surprised that there is a graphics and performance mode though; being a PS4 game I expected a 4K60 mode only. Wonder how much better the enhanced graphics mode will look.

It's not difficult to forget though. One of the most uninspiring games I've seen in a long time. Perhaps if they completely redesigned the character models it might look like an Avengers game instead of a group of cosplay artists in ill fitting outfits.

The game looks like fun, albeit mindless fun, the kind of arcade button basher i used to play decades ago. From the footage i've seen, the casting isn't exactly inspired, with Thor and his dialogue cringe-worthy; "It's lucky for you that i am mighty!" and is that Nolan North playing Tony Stark?

I expect a lot of games to have an improved graphics mode tbh. People need to see that magical native 4K box ticked even though pushing that resolution will compromise graphical fidelity in order to hit the other magical number 60fps.
I'd rather take the best graphics possible and sacrifice 4K for fauxK in order to achieve 60fps. Either way there's no reason why we can't have all those options available in the graphics menu for every game. If it's not competitive MP less I'd take the best graphics and lower fps for the best looking game possible. If it's Online MP then I'd sacrifice all the bells and whistles to get that higher fps. |

I feel I should throw in that I would love this game to be amazing. I'm a big Marvel fan and when this game was announced I was really interested. Then that trailer arrived and killed it dead.
I guess my annoyance with the game is that the Avengers deserve better and it's not even about the likenesses not being based on the MCU (I appreciate there are all sorts of issues around that), its that the characters just all look plain terrible. I have Spider-Man and I've no problem with any of the characters in that (though the hair looks odd sometimes), I just can't believe how bad the Avengers look in this game. |

I just find it's really, really cool that they just came out and said "You bought the PS4 version on disk or digital, you'll get a free PS5 edition". The two mode thing doesn't bother me as i'm expecting that to become more of a thing and eventually have a future model that managed to hit native 4k/60fps. |

I remember being blown away by the first Spider-Man PS4 reveal and being total 'meh' for the Avengers game first reveal. My enthusiasm for the game has never recovered.

1) Native 4K locked, FPS lowered to 30fps locked. 2) Performance mode with 60fps lock and targeted by employing dynamic resolution. Basically if 9'm reading option 2 correctly, if in the future you had a PS5 Pro or a PS6 with BC on the performance mode, it should pretty much lock to 60fps and hit native 4K. That's possibly an option a lot of games could target but i'd like to see a situation where we may even be able to have a patch to unlock further up to 120hz depending on the games in question such as say Gran Turismo 7 etc. |

Well I guess both modes could be 4K than. Would be interesting seeing these comparisons from DF if that were the case. It wouldn’t be pixel count talk but more in depth analysis of what features are missing in the FPS mode. I have a feeling Next-Gen 30/60 & 2160 games will bore Digital Foundry because they like their FPS graphs & pixel counts & I don’t think games will dip in FPS, at all on the targeted locked modes. Same goes for Resolution. No Dynamic scaling or checker-boarding. I think both racing & 2D Fighters should be able to target 120 FPS sooner rather then later. MP games may take a little longer but there are projects that look open world & run 90 FPS. I expect they’ll scale those down to 60fps, not increase to 120. |

The real problem is when it comes down to it we all need to turn to DF to tell us which is "best". If we can't see for ourselves then is it really worth worrying about?
This is one thing that I really don't want to creep over from PC gaming, there are so many settings and resolutions to choose from you can literally spend hours trying different things out running benchmarks to see what gives you the best graphics to fps ratio and before you know it you've spent longer playing with the settings than you have playing the game lol. I just want simple options with simple explanations of what they do. |

The 3rd being RT On/Off. It’s very likely that will be the culprit to FPS drops if the game tries to target 60 as well. |
