So Apple revealed its iPhone 15 lineup yesterday.
The pro max is capable of 40gb/s transfer speeds I believe, but you apparently have to order a $69 cable. I believe it’s thunderbolt. I have been behind in this technology. I just know about USB. I have a Dell PC that’s about 3 years old. How do I know if this cable will work with the pro max and my PC and allow me to transfer at that 40 gb/s speed? |

Yep, you'll need a Thunderbolt to usb adaptor. Your Dell will probably have usb 3.0. I wouldn't be surprised if that price you quoted was correct as it's an Apple 'thing' to charge more. Here in the UK and Europe Apple have to (recent EU dictat) release their latest phones with a usb-c connection. Makes things way easier.
You won't get 40gb/s with usb 3.0 as the max data that can take is 5 ish GB/s -- usb 4.0 could if the info I've looked at is correct. Your Dell will at best be usb 3.1 which does about 10 GB/s. This is one of many sites with an explanation of the types of usb and thunderbolt connection speeds. https://www.backblaze.com/blog/whats...erbolt-vs-usb/ Last edited by DTSBOY; 09-13-2023 at 08:44 PM. |
