I watched the first episode...I've never seen anything try so hard in my life.

Basically, from the very first scene on, the only thoughts I had were variations on "Are you f'ing kidding me?"

And that ending, I literally yelled at the screen,
[Show spoiler]WHY ARE YOU NOT CALLING 911????

I really didn't have any preconceived notions about this, so I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn't...this.

There was way way too much Identity dialogue.

What is that? Does Carrie have an alter ego? Is this a superhero thing now?

I expected that - and I expected it to be ham-fisted, as it was. What I just did not expect was how calculated every single bit of the show was...tbh, that ended up being the least of the problems.

I'm sitting here pretty shocked that I disliked this as much as I did...and the more I think about it, the further down my opinion goes. So much so, that instead of watching the second episode, I just think I'm not - it isn't even fun in a train wreck sort of way.

It's so odd...you have a beloved show about fun and friendship and...you take the fun and friendship out of it.

I don't understand the title? Were they legally unable to just call it Sex In The City?

I liked it, but the overt pandering was way too obvious.

I guess they think folks are in this particular era desiring Identity Politics as a "main" ingredient.....and I dont wanna use a lazy term called WOKE.

The friendships were still there...I didnt get any sense of disconnect.

To be honest......losing Samantha is a huge loss to the team chemistry.

And I was kinda done w/ it after the first film, but they keep churning the butter.

Married 50+ somethings........nah...the new title is appropriate and a catch term used by Carrie throughout the series.

well, Samantha WAS the Sex And The City, so I get it, it's like Golden Palace without Bea Arthur

I came into it knowing the spoiler, and was bummed to see it play out. But honestly, the first two episodes felt much more like SATC and the characters more like I'd expect them in 2021 compared to the godawful mess that Sex And The City 2 was, that was a movie that destroyed its characters and was such a spectacular disaster.

It did feel weird seeing so much Stanford knowing that Willie Garson has since passed away which makes me wonder if they're going to kill him off at some point because of real life events.

I just watched the first two episodes and it just felt too forced… I’ve already invested myself through 6 seasons, a spin off and 2 movies so I’ll keep with it, but at times it almost felt like a parody. And this coming from someone who kinda liked the second movie…

I think some of the original early seasons charm comes from making NYC a character in itself.

Even if they tried to show certain NYC landmarks to make it seem local and authentic, at this point its so over-produced, theyre missing the dirty smoky bars, diners, singles apartments, hipster restaurants, and just plain ole regular sidewalk landscapes of the early seasons.
And that also is because NYC has morphed alot since 1999 or even when the book was written.

I dont expect the same shit from Season 1 to be portrayed by 55 years olds....But ..I guess im gonna hang in there to see if some of the magic can be re-worked.

What can I say? I liked the first two episodes, even if some of it was awkward and cringe-worthy? I love these characters, and it was like catching up with old friends. Yes, the big spoiler was being telegraphed in the episode and I hoped I was wrong, but I guess I came into it without expectations and wanted to see what happened. I'm definitely sticking with it.

Loved both episodes. Yeah, I said it. The “trying too hard” conversation about the first episode are interesting considering they felt exactly how the show was originally. The difference this time is the era we live in. Can almost guarantee that the “forced topics” are going to get real uncomfortable for audiences very very soon because they’ll hit them head on…which is when this show was at it’s best…even for a comedy.

The topics were more cleverly written back in the day.
This stuff is like softball practice.

Agreed. I loved it too and I had very low expectations because I hated the second movie and also my second favorite character (Miranda is #1, Charlotte is third and Carrie last) isn't involved anymore, but I will be back for more
