Default Chorus

I don't know if any of you guys bought this at launch or perhaps played when it came to PS+ Extra as i am now. I generally like fighter jet style combat games and this one is not bad at all for a "free" play. The missions are a bit samey and generally it's a very basic game compared to how the trailers tried to originally sell it on reveal like a Space Buddy type of game. The graphics also won't win any awards but they're not bad for the type of gameplay you generally experience.

I played this recently just after Everspace 2. I thought Chorus was leagues better than that.

Chorus has the best space dog fighting I have ever played. I don't know how far in you are but once you unlock the ability to teleport behind your enemies and corkscrew your ship into them it increases the fun factor of this game x100. It never gets old.

I wish it was longer because I really didn't want it to end. Fingers crossed for a sequel.

I've got the ability i think where you teleport behind as its the 2nd one to unlock and then the 3rd i have also unlocked as i just made it to the 3rdarea recently.

I definitely think the space combat is really well done and what made me continue to want to play. There's not a lot of ways to make a controller as smooth as some other input devices but the devs did a great job translating it to controller. It's why i don't mind going forwards because of that even though the story elements play out quite weak. It's akin to receiving real time codex messages with a few graphical animation overlays.

I do think this game also knows the type of players that usually play open world dragging themselves through side missions so glas there's enough variety there lol.

Whenever a big fight was about to happen I put 'Battle Theme' from the Flash Gordon soundtrack on.

I still need to pick this up. I really enjoyed the demo and felt it was some of the best space combat since Colony Wars.

I have got quite a bit of hands on time with the combat now and whilst i am very "flat" in terms of my approach to fighting enemies, the variety and fluidity with which you can execute combat is really great overall. My main gripe with the game does end up coming down to basically a similar problem to some other huge feeling open worlds where they can just begin to feel a bit big with slightly cookie cutter design and take you ages to traverse. There's a decent variety of side missions depending on which area you are in. The last area you unlock for example seemed to have the most varied missions in a density that's a lot more nice to traverse around in as there's multiple layers and whatnot too. Then there's a desolate ice area you also get to near the end which seems set up well enough for the story and luckily as such compact. The first two areas seem like they naturally function as a bit of a tutorial/hands on but eventually after trying to do everything i can, it seems there's no side mission style incentive to return.

There's a permadeth option if you're a complete masochist but i felt like on "Normal" mode you will fail a few times but funnily enough i failed more times probably not finishing an objective on time.
