Sleuth (1972). Release date 9/6/23 from Colored Films
https://www.amazon.fr/Sleuth-Blu-ray...A1X6FK5RDHNB96 Just listed today on the home page here when you check the latest French announcements. Someone a whole lot smarter than me will need to explain how this is getting released on blu ray. Does Bristol-Myers Squibb control only the North American rights to this? Or is this an "unofficial" blu ray release? Whatever the answer, this is one of my most wanted dvd upgrades. It will be an immediate preorder. The PQ for the dvd has always been mediocre, even by dvd standards. Really shocked and very happy for this announcement. |

This looks genuine. The label has produced a few releases of "official" titles like The Conformist.
The only difference between what’s visible on the Sleuth cover and their other discs is the lack of a "ESC Editions" logo. ESC seems to be another label that distributes their licensed films, like Kino for Cohen. I hope that this means something good with Colored Films releasing this on their own. Can’t wait to see this classic for the first time thanks to them. |

Surprised this isn’t getting more attention. I think we need to manage our expectations though. I recently picked up the ESC blu ray edition of The Hireling and it was arguably worse than the DVD. They just seemed to have upped the brightness at the expense of deeper richer colours.
I’ll wait for some reviews. |

It says “precommandez maintenant” for me, which I believe means “pre-order now”. However when I press the button, and log-in to my American Amazon account, it says it isn’t available for shipment to my address—which could be because I have a PO Box (?) or because it’s a territory/rights issue.
But it does otherwise look available (to people in the EU) and I, too, am surprised this hasn’t gotten more attention. For crying out loud. |

I've just made the discovery that this can't be ordered to the UK, but can be ordered to the likes of the US. I'm guessing this must be due to some territorial rights issues.
Question now is whether I fork out to have this sent from France to my US reshipper, to then have them send it across to me in the UK. Desk |

I believe you should be able to pre-order the title from FNAC, for example, though I am not certain as they may have post-Brexit issues with shipping to the UK: https://www.fnac.com/a18221378/Le-Li...livier-Blu-ray Last edited by McCrutchy; 07-14-2023 at 02:23 PM. |

Went to preorder this on Amazon France and it says currently unavailable and also states
current delivery address as united kingdom. Does everyone else see this message about it currently unavailable? Don't think it should be an issue that I'm in the UK. I ordered Blown Away from Amazon France back in January and shipped here no problems. Is it some titles from AF ship to UK and some don't? Crazy! |

There's been an HD version of this floating on the seven seas for a while now. I believe it was taken from a French TV showing. It looks better than the dvd but not by much.

My expectations for this are quite low. Hopefully I’m wrong but won’t be rushing to pre-order.

Neither Amazon France nor FNAC seem to permit it for me using a UK address, so I was close to getting it shipped to a US remailer then back across the pond. Oh, and for how much I want this see my sig. EDIT: never mind, Royaume Uni is United Kimgdom. Duh! Desk Last edited by Desk.; 08-15-2023 at 08:18 PM. |

1) Anyone know why Amazon FR lists this as currently unavailable when it's available on other sites for pre-order?
2) Anyone know of anywhere I can pre-order this that ships to the UK without the hassle of remailers? There must be someone somewhere... |

As I noted a few posts up in the thread, 'Royaume Uni' is United Kingdom. I've missed out on a fair few FNAC offers over the years never realising this. Desk |

Brilliant! Just ordered, no problems. Saw this film in 1983 when I was 14. Be great to hopefully get a better transfer than the DVD. Thx for your help. |
