There's a review of the box set on Amazon Spain. I ran it through Google translate and the reviewer was not happy at all with the transfer of Abre Los Ojos.

I received the Amenabar box set today and had a quick look at Abre los Ojos before leaving for the holidays, and unfortunately I have to agree about the transfer; I don't have the vocabulary to describe it properly, and I cannot take screen caps, but the image is full of digital noise/artifacts (not film grain) and does not look particularly good. It's got English subtitles, though.

Thanks for the impressions. REALLY disappointed with this news though.

I'll probably end up picking it up, if only for the fact that there isn't an anamorphic DVD release out there. It has to be better than the existing UK version.

I have it and I think it looks alright. Could use a remaster, but even so it is true HD and not an upconvert.

It's definitely not an u convert, it's just very badly encoded with a ton of compression artifacts.

I have the 2022 release, which is very good, but can't make any comparison with the previous release.
