Quote:
Writer/director Robert Clouse, whose Enter The Dragon delivered hard-hitting action and whose Deadly Eyes provided gnawing rodent terror, combines both fright and fight in this survival tale where a walk in the woods becomes a long, dark journey into fear. Set on a remote island, where vacationers have senselessly abandoned their unwanted pet dogs, The Pack shows man's inhumanity coming back to haunt him with fanged fury. The confused, starving pets form a rampaging pack – and man's best friend becomes his worst fiend. Joe Don Baker (Walking Tall, GoldenEye, The Living Daylights) stars as the heroic marine biologist who comes up with a do-or-die scheme that will either reestablish man as top dog – or turn him into a tasty tidbit. The suspense is ferocious.

Ugh, this has been on my wishlist for such a long time, but I wanted WAC to release it. It would have been cheaper, no encode/compression issues and no scratches. Anyway, at the very least they should include a commentary with Lee Gambin, he's an expert on the when animals attack genre.

Day 1!

This and CUJO are the best killer dog movies.

I've been wanting to see this again for a long time. I loved it when I first watched it, but I was just a teenager at the time. I hope it is just as good seeing it through adult eyes.

Words can't describe how great this film is. My favorite WAC discovery when I was buying their DVDs like crazy.

This was one of those WAC pick-ups from long ago. A Blu-ray is much-needed for this gem, so thank you Shout! Another one to remove off the signature.

Great news that Shout Factory is going to release The Pack in September.

I wonder what transfer they will use (the one from the Warner archives looks best) and if they will remaster it?!

This is a screenshot comparison between the Warner archives transfer and an AI upscale.

Didn't get the WAC manufactured-on-demand DVD release of The Pack, but it was still on my list of DVD titles I wanted to get (and I had read on here positive comments about the film from one or two members). This Shout! Blu-ray release now saves me getting the WAC DVD release.

@OceanBlue

Besides CUJO (which is definitely the best dog horror) The Pack is highly recommended!
I also like The Breed (2006) a lot, which was produced by Wes Craven.

I wonder how this will be a blind buy 🤔 Just watched Dogs (1976) like two weeks back and had a good time with it.

Dogs is great, IMO - I really was surprised by how effectively creepy that one gets at times. This one has a much better reputation than that one, and I think I've always heard it called the best example of its kind. I haven't seen it yet, I'll pick this up eventually.

The transfer/print TCM is airing is Battlefield Earth urine yellow, no blue or white skies!

Well one viewing was enough for me, passing on a purchase for now.
