Great post-apocalyptic film!! Very scary! Shame about the audio though. I’ll probably buy it anyways and hope for a future Russian language release. I’m sure it’s a pq improvement over my dvd

The German release is out and although it only lists a German language track on the cover it does feature the original Russian language as a hidden track only accessable via the players audio setup during the movie.

But before you get too excited: The English subtitles on the disc are a literal translation of the German subtitles, which themselves are dubtitles of the German dub. And if this wasn't enough both subtitle tracks are riddled with spelling and grammatical errors and missing lines of dialogue.

The image transfer was done from several 35mm theatrical prints but is solid.

All extras are German language only and are of ordinary quality. In the booklet, although it is listed as multi language, is mainly in German and only contains a cast and crew list and a plot synopsis in English and French.

Thanks for checking this out and providing us with a review. I can live with slightly shoddy subtitles (dubtitles), as long as original audio is included (as a hidden track).

I suspect a superior US and/or UK release will ermerge evventually, but it may take some time. By supporting this, hopefully Ostalgica will release more East Bloc sci-fi with original audio and both English and German subtitles.

A Visitor to a Museum would be highest on my wish list, but there are so many others...

Just received this from JPC.de, plays in Region A as well. Reversible art (see alt cover below). A nice booklet with photos and some text in different languages, including English. PQ and color much better than the old dvd I have. Appears to use the German title card to intro instead of the Russian. Run a few minutes longer than my dvd
