Just got an Xbox One S for retro purposes, but..the 4k playback seems good. Lucky?

So back at its release it wasn't the best - so definitely not now but having bought the console for more than just movie purposes, but then realizing it has no trouble playing 100 BDs, 66, or 50 BDs and seeing its quality on my TV's I gotta say I don't get the mixed reaction back in 2016-2018 when it was a top seller for 4k playback. Now I will say the only other 4k player I've had long term is this one:

Now its very much entry level too, but Panasonic for most people is the best all around player, budget wise, and quality wise. And comparing this player to my One S even in 2025 - the differences only barely are visible. THe question I ask is did I get lucky that this One S plays all the different BD sizes well, or not? Because if its common for the One S to be a stable player I may buy another. THe question is asked because way back when - I had a One X which was very- very hit or miss on discs.

Again I understand this is old tech, but for under a $100 which is what I got my One S for, you can't do any better for a 4k player.

One major downside is no HDR10+ or Dolby Vision playback, just HDR10. I used it for a few years as my first 4K player though and never had playback issues with BD100s though! As a back up, it's definitely worth holding on to!

Thanks! As noted tho my main BD player only has HDR 10 as well, another Note my main TV is only HDR 10, so no + or Dolby Vision and what not is fine for me, just making sure its a good- fairly stable player for the needs I listed. Thanks again.
