Great news. I too hope for a US release of FF7, but I will grab whatever is out there for FF7:AC. (I imported the DVD version when it wasn't avail in the US)

Marking my calendar already.

The movie, Sony doesn't own the series, nor is the series HD (huge chunks would have to be redone as all the computer animation is SD only).

This list probably is approximately the same for the US plus of minus a few months

They might as well make a US release at the same time, they know from the DVD release that there will be massive importing if the US release is delayed.

Plus, with the capabilities of Blu-ray, they could very well make a global release, with multiple audio, multiple subtitles, etc. for every needed audio and subtitle mix. Only good reason they wouldn't is if they took the care to re-animate some of the scenes so that the dubbing matches up better. But that's a long shot.

If it's delayed, it's because they want the double-dip of those who import it, and those who get a "special" US edition later.

I have been patiently awaiting any kind of word about the Cowboy Bebop movie, and now that there has been word of it, I can say with little doubt that this is now my most anticipated blu-ray title of the year. Above Batman Begins, above The Matrix, and above any potential Universal/Paramount release.
