Maybe the world is finally coming to an end...Warner Bros is licensing out titles now?? Good news regarding this one, of course.

Paul Maher Jr. stated in a comment to It Looks Like Terrence Malick's 'Badlands' Is Headed To The Criterion Collection, "Malick is deeply involved in this restoration and I am told "it won't just be a Blu-Ray." It will get the full Criterion treatment."

Which Paul Maher Jr. is that?

IF Badlands is going to be released, there will be an announcement. At this time this is nothing but idle, possibly misleading, speculation.

It's not just speculation though. Criterion's monthly cartoon, shown in the Playlist article, "hints" at Badlands in a way that leaves little room for doubt. It's coming.

For those who don't follow the Criterion Collection thread:

This picture of "Bad Lambs" was hinted in the September Criterion newsletter.

Badlands
Days Of Heaven
New World
Thin Red Line
To The Wonder
Tree Of Life

Am I missing any?

I own Days Of Heaven, The Thin Red Line, and The Tree Of Life. I don't any of the other ones on DVD or Blu-Ray so I mind as well pick up The New World in Blu-Ray so that I too can have the collection

Additionally, Criterion seems to use the prefix "wacky" in many of their hints (if not all)

Here's the one hinting at the Spanding Gray movies titled "wacky_basketball".

Are Criterion visual puns typically that awful? I'm as much a Criterion enthusiast as anyone, but don't really get caught up in the upcoming title hints

Lanton Mills will hopefully be included as an extra on the Badlands disc

Still though, we are looking at a January release at the very earliest.

Still better than no conformation at all.

Well, yeah. Unlike most of his latter films, he didn't forget to put an interesting story among the pretty pictures.

Lanton Mills would indeed be a sick extra.
