Devil Engine (Finally) Coming to Switch 10/12/23

One of the most controversial, heavily litigated games in recent memory of finally getting a release in October. The game had been tied up in never ending legal issues for many years, but seems to be a highly regarded 2D shmup. I'm looking forward to this one. It's up for preorder on Play-Asia for $26.

Beep Japan, Poppy Works, and Protoculture Games have revealed that Devil Engine: Complete Edition is on the way to Switch. The game is slated for release on October 12, 2023.

If the name Devil Engine sounds familiar, that’s because it was announced for Switch way back in 2019. Dangen Entertainment was originally set to publish. We had even heard about Ignition DLC that was teased in the main game. Devil Engine: Complete Edition will finally bring us the Switch version as well as that DLC and 1993 Shenandoah as an extra bonus.

Looks cool but I am terrible at these games unless there's an infinite continues option lol

This game is getting a Limited Run Games release. I'd already bought the Japanese release, not really expecting any North American release. It's only $29.99, so I'll probably double dip on this one. Cover art is decent, but nowhere near as nice as the Japanese edition.

Is it any good? There was some SHMUP I read recently that wasn’t and I can’t remember which one it was.

I think it's excellent. One of the better new (non remake or port) shmups on the Switch.
