These are going cheap on Amazon at the moment but not sure if I should buy them or not.
What versions are better in regards to PQ - US or UK? I'm not too fussed about extras. I have the US versions on DVD for Lady Vengeance and Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance. I have the UK version on DVD for Oldboy. |

I'm not sure if you're Region A capable, but I'll give what info I have.
The transfers for Mr. Vengeance and Oldboy, whether it be the US/UK versions, are largely the same. You just need to keep in mind, that the version of Oldboy in the US Trilogy boxset, only had lossy audio. I'm not sure if they corrected this error in later pressings, but they simply sent out copies of the older release,(minus DVD extras disc). The Canadian set,(the set that I personally own), does have the correct audio,(and Region A locked). The US and Canadian versions of Lady Vengeance, also have with the colour and fade to black and white versions. I was never happy with the UK disc, only having the fade to black and white version. Regardless of which one the director prefers, I like the full colour version of Lady Vengeance. Transfer wise, the UK/US fade to black and white transfers are practically identical. I haven't seen any of the other colour versions, but the Canadian transfer, which mirrors the US disc, is quite strong. They also moved the subtitle positioning for Oldboy, with the later releases. Don't ask me how I noticed... Last edited by Sky_Captain; 11-20-2011 at 02:24 AM. |

![]() ![]() What extras does this Vengeance Trilogy release have? Are all the extras found on the US release present or is it just the same as those found on the individual UK releases ie. the three commentaries and deleted scenes for Oldboy. |

Does anybody have the Palisades Tartan Vengeance trilogy? Are the discs just the same as the previously Region B ones? I'm wondering does it have both versions of Lady as well as the 3hr Oldboy documentary. It's very cheap on Zavvi atm.

Trying to consolidate my vengeance collection and picked this up but haven't opened it yet as I think it's not going to be any use to me. I have the DVD trilogy digi pack which has the 3.5 hr Oldboy diary and all the commentaries I don't have on Korean releases. Have the colour Lady Vengeance separately, the Oldboy 1st issue DVD with unique extras not in the collection box or steel book. Is this just the uk discs compiled so nothing new for me here? Back says this box has more extras than any release in the world and that it is given full Tartan respect but that means nothing. My lady vengeance from DVD trilogy box is unwatchable as the audio tracks lose sync but I missed replacement program opportunity. The commentaries remain in sync though. So in summary, if I have the trilogy DVD set, Oldboy steel, and Korean 2version lady vengeance, is it worth keeping just to have latter and Sympathy in HD? Surely another release is on the horizon?

I have the UK version and it has the 7.1 DTS audio - Not sure about the differences between the UK and Canada versions though.
