Default importing from UK vs US

Is it just me or does it make much more sense to import from UK than the US? In the last few years the prices of shipping from the states has gone up, and for some reason shipping times seem to be going up as well. On the other hand, I have had some very positive experiences shipping from multiple sellers from the UK. The shipping is timely and the cost is less. How the heck does this make any sense? Anyway, it makes me want to look out for UK releases more. Anyone else feel this way?

I mean what you can import from the UK is very different what you can import from the US so I don't understand why you would compare the two.

I import a lot from the US using amazon.com specifically Criterion's when they are 50% off. I also use deep discount for US only releases and if and when there are 15% off codes.

From the UK, I import Arrow 4Ks that are usually UK exclusive as well 88 Films, Second Sight and Studiocanal. Most often I use Amazon.co.uk usually I get lucky and it's with snail mail (Australia Post Global), but every once in a while it ships with DHL which is when you have to pay for major charges.

I've found that importing stuff from the UK has been much cheaper than the US for over a decade now. Unfortunately, Amazon UK's shipping hasn't been great since the pandemic, but sites like Zavvi and Rarewaves still offer really cheap shipping.

I dont find shipping from the UK is faster but it is lower in cost even with tracking and what is more important is a lot of UK releases of the same titles have better pq, sometimes much better pq.

However you really have to do your homework like read everything on the site's shipping info, read what others ordering from the site encountered and making sure what you are ordering is what you think it is.

Quite a few made mistakes that could of been easily avoided.

I thought Zavvi no long ships to outside of the UK?

UK to Canada is generally faster then US to Canada since they tend to be held up at US airports especially from the west coast (LA is really bad),

Postage wise UK has lower overseas rates then the US.

Disadvantages are if you have to return something, you wouldn't believe the cost to send back and of course region codes if you don't have an all region player.

I just looked into this now and you appear to be correct. The last order I placed on Zavvi was in January, so I didn't realize that they stopped their international shipping.

I thought so cause a lot of americans got upset when Zavvi stopped shipping to outside of the UK.

Of course when I pointed out to them a lot usa sites do not do international shipping they went quiet.
