Australia Hara-Kiri : Death of a Samurai 3D Blu-ray (2011) [Region Free] [Australia only]

Moderator note: Hara-Kiri: Death of a Samurai was released on 3D Blu-ray in Australia, France, Germany, Korea, Japan and Russia but the Australian disc is the only one that includes English subtitles. It's also region free - other editions may not be.

Original post:
Anyone have these?

Hara-Kiri: Japan region free?

Sex and Zen 3D: Looks likes it's available (but expensive) region free from Hong Kong, Japan, or South Korea...

If so, any thoughts? Can't find anything on these anywhere...

I saw Hara-Kiri in the theater and it was absolutely the shallowest 3D I have seen to date. It's a complete waste of the medium unless you're specifically looking for a fantastic example of how bad 3D can be created with native stereo rigs. I'd suggest buying the Blu-ray only if you're interested in it for reasons other than the 3D and definitely do not pay extra for a 3D version.

I see that most of your collection is US region A. Why does it matter if the Japanese "Hara Kiri" is region ABC or not?

I believe that the Japanese version is the only version in 3D that I could get for Region A...

harakiri is not worth the 3D.. but the movie itself is pretty awesome.
sex and zen has good 3D but the movie is 50/50 ok or shit. first hour is funny and good the second part is just strange..

Know anywhere they can be rented?

They're pretty expensive and I'm curious...

I've only seen the 2D blu-ray and dvd of "Hara-Kiri" at rental shops around. The only 3D titles I see on the shelves are mostly Hollywood stuff, and it's a pretty small selection.

You're also aware that the Japanese 3D/2D release of "Hara-Kiri" doesn't have English subtitles, right?

Hara-Kiri is a waste of time in 3D.

For slip-cover lovers. French slip. Cheaper than the one I bought and delivered from Sokor.

Does an English 3D copy of this movie even exist, is there any way to get it?

There’s an out of print Australian Blu-ray 3D (seen in post #1). I wouldn’t overpay for it because the 3D is flat flat flat.

Also is the 3D of this movie really that bad? Cause it's up for bid on eBay now, find it hard to believe that a movie filmed in 3D can look that mediocre.

This has to be the flattest, most incompetent “native 3D” of all time. I can barely call it a 3D movie. It’s a good film though. Buy it and find out for yourself.

It's painfully mild. I think the auto3d-setting on my TV would provide better results.

BTW, that seller is hilarious. I don't doubt he's a good seller. Based on his past sales and a huge collection of hundreds of auto-conversions, he's extremely knowledgeable about the 3D universe. But he places a 'oh help and tell me how good the 3d is' Facebook post as a ploy to get people involved and advertise his wares. Instead of just saying, hey, check out my stuff on ebay.

Sorry, just the cynic in me talking.

The 3D is not bad at all, it's just so mild and tame that it has almost no impact for the vast majority of the film's runtime.
